Responsibilities

• Supervise quality control engineers on inspections and surveillance.
• Provide QC support to construction management and status results.
• Set priorities to support construction and operations needs.
• Resolve complex problems coordinating with internal/external departments.
• Lead quality activities, participate in contract discussions.
• Prepare status reports for QC activities.
• Review subcontractor QC procedures and monitor adherence.
• Coordinate QC engineers with other departments to ensure compliance.
• Prepare QC procedures for inspection, testing, surveillance.
• Provide QC training and ensure staff are qualified.
• Prepare performance evaluations of assigned personnel.
• Develop and review QC inspection plans for electrical and I&C.
• Perform field inspections per QC plans.
• Document inspection results and issue nonconformance reports.
• Review product/process compliance with drawings/specifications.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise and direct quality control engineers assigned to perform inspections and surveillance in support of project work and/or maintenance activities.
• Provide quality control support to construction management and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results.
• Establish priorities which support construction/operations needs.
• Resolve complex problems which develop during the implementation of quality activities by coordinating with internal and external departments.
• Provide leadership which inspires efficient performance of assignments, safe work habits, timely exchange of information and each individuals' commitment to site policies. Participate in contract discussions relating to quality activities.
• Prepare comprehensive status reports for construction quality activities.
• Review and approve subcontractors’ quality procedures and monitor their adherence to those procedures.
• Coordinate the activities of assigned quality control engineers and with other construction departments to ensure that construction is in compliance with site specifications and standards.
• Prepare quality procedures to ensure proper inspection, testing and surveillance activities are being performed.
• Provide effective quality training programs and ensure assigned personnel are qualified to perform assigned tasks.
• Prepare performance evaluations of assigned personnel.
• Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans related to electrical and I&C, in accordance with Design Output documents, Codes, and Standards.
• Perform field related inspections in accordance with Quality Control Inspection Plans.
• Document inspection results on applicable inspection records and issue Nonconformance reports as required.
• Review product and process compliance with all specified drawings, specifications, and other requirements through inspection and/or review of supplied materials and equipment.

WORK HOURS

A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 8 - 10 years of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas.
• An Associate's degree and 10 - 12 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent.
• A high school diploma and 12 - 16 years of practical experience would also be considered equivalent.
• Certification in areas of responsibility are required with ongoing programmatic training per the requirements of the project quality program.

Experience:

• Well-developed organizational and supervisory skills and good communication talents are required.
• Prior work experience working under an ASME NQA-1 quality program.
• Prior DOE work experience.
• Well-developed organizational skills with good communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
• Practical field experience in electrical and instrumentation and controls (I&C) quality control within the last 16 months.
