Job summary

Qualifications

Job description

Position Summary

As an Electrical Engineer II focused on Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) at Airbus U.S. Space & Defense, you will be a key contributor within the Electrical Manufacturing Engineering team, supporting the design, validation, integration, and optimization of EGSE systems used for spacecraft test and verification. Your role will involve hands‑on engineering work across the EGSE lifecycle—including requirements development, troubleshooting, system enhancements, and cross‑functional coordination—to ensure high system performance and reliability in support of satellite programs.

Position Responsibilities
EGSE System Design & Development
  • Support the design, development, and deployment of EGSE systems including hardware interfaces, power supplies, data buses, and communication links.
  • Ensure EGSE systems meet program requirements, technical specifications, and quality standards.
  • Assist in the development of test procedures, system configurations, and validation protocols.
Troubleshooting & Support
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to EGSE systems during integration and test campaigns.
  • Provide real‑time support during system‑level test activities, including anomaly resolution and root‑cause analysis.
  • Document and implement improvements to EGSE tools, processes, and procedures based on findings.
System Integration & Validation
  • Perform integration and functional verification of EGSE hardware and software components.
  • Contribute to system‑level testing by ensuring EGSE accurately replicates spacecraft interfaces and functionality.
  • Validate EGSE performance through rigorous testing and support configuration control of test systems.
Collaboration & Process Coordination
  • Work closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and IT teams to ensure EGSE solutions meet operational needs.
  • Participate in design reviews, readiness assessments, and failure review boards.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Supply Chain teams for hardware sourcing and vendor technical support.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain detailed documentation of EGSE configurations, modifications, and validation activities.
  • Support change control processes by documenting engineering changes, system upgrades, and technical decisions.
  • Generate and maintain reports for internal and customer‑facing reviews.
Qualified Experience / Skills / Training
Education
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Experience
  • 3‑6 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on test systems or EGSE preferred.
  • Experience supporting hardware/software integration and validation in a space or aerospace environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system‑level technical issues.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft electrical systems and test environments a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities
  • Solid understanding of EGSE architectures, including power, data, and communication interfaces.
  • Proficient in interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and system requirements.
  • Skilled in using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, and logic analyzers.
  • Experience with test automation and scripting for test execution and data collection.Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across hardware and software domains.
  • Effective verbal and written communication for technical documentation and collaboration.
  • Comfortable working in cross‑functional environments and under time‑sensitive conditions.
Technical Systems Proficiency
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW.
  • Understanding of test management and configuration tools.
  • Working knowledge of tools such as Atlassian JIRA/Confluence, SAP, and Microsoft Office 365.
Travel Required
  • Up to 15% (domestic/international).
Eligibility
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance; Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance highly desirable.
Physical Requirements
  • Carrying: able to carry documents and/or electronic equipment up to 20 lbs (9 kg).
  • Lifting: able to lift documents and/or electronic equipment up to 20 lbs (9 kg).
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.
  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
