Job description

Amteck is seeking a highly skilled and motivated traveling Electrical Foreman.

The Foreman Electrician works under the guidance of a senior level Foreman or Superintendent and will oversee the direct work of a crew of Helpers, Apprentices, and Journeyman electricians. Foreman electricians routinely perform installation, alteration and/or repair of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment simultaneously while leading, training, mentoring, and evaluating their crew.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor Journeyman, Helpers and Apprentices on the job site.
  • Work alongside the crew to ensure the highest quality of work.
  • Assist in developing an effective manpower schedule for the team.
  • Develop material lists from layouts, area prints and job site demands, and communicate them to supervision.
  • Help achieve production and budget goals by understanding tasks and communicating effectively.
  • Ensure all work performed by the crew complies with local regulations and NEC guidelines.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit using appropriate tools.
  • Install and terminate electrical devices, fixtures, panel boards, and branch/circuit/feeder conductors.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of circuitry and troubleshoot lighting and general power circuits.
  • Read and understand project specifications, blueprints and schematics.
  • Lay out small areas of work from electrical drawings and determine proper sizing of wires, conduit and junction boxes, including underground layouts.
Qualifications
  • 7-10 years of experience performing electrical construction in commercial and/or industrial environments.
  • Ability to lead, mentor and coach teams of approximately five Helpers, Apprentices and Journeyman electricians, with a desire to grow in leadership.
  • Thorough understanding of a small, assigned scope of work and ability to recognize work outside that scope.
  • Basic skills in communicating with other trades and negotiating work assignments with trade supervisors.
  • Aptitude for reading and understanding blueprints and contract documents of other trades on site.
  • Understanding of customer relationships and the concept of customer satisfaction.
  • Intermediate ability to develop, read and follow construction schedules for assigned scope of work.
  • Competence in using BlueBeam, Navisworks and related programs to read project plans for the assigned scope.
  • Participation in leadership training when available.
  • Above-average leadership, communication and decision‑making skills with a desire to grow further.
  • Equipped with all tools required by company policy and able to use them to perform assigned tasks.
  • Ability to adhere to the Amteck Way in daily work activities, behavior and decision making.
  • Availability to work project schedules, including weekends and overtime.
  • Interest and aptitude for learning job‑related material through oral instruction and observation in an on‑the‑job setting.
  • Team‑player mentality: listens, understands directions, works cooperatively, and maintains safety for self and others.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude, basic mathematical ability and ability to read construction documents used daily.
  • Willingness to participate in field training in various formats (OJT, classroom, virtual).
