Job summary

Advantage Technical in Texas seeks an experienced field engineer to provide on-site technical support during construction and ensure execution aligns with engineered plans. You will bridge design and field work, review drawings, and guide crews and subcontractors on site.

The role requires a bachelor’s in engineering, 3+ years in industrial construction, and travel readiness; initial 4 weeks in Houston, TX, then site-based work. Flexibility for extended hours and field conditions is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial construction, field engineering, or related technical roles with a focus in the electrical space.
  • Experience in industries such as manufacturing, data centers, power generation, oil & gas, water treatment, or large-scale mechanical systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Must be willing to travel wherever the project requires; initial 4 weeks in Houston, TX with the design engineering team.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or shifts as required by project demands.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with clean record.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site technical support during construction as it relates to engineering questions that arise
  • Bridge the gap between design and execution; ensure engineered plans are carried out accurately
  • Interpret and review engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation to ensure alignment with site conditions
  • Provide technical guidance to field crews, subcontractors, and site supervisors
  • Recommend and implement solutions to resolve design or construction conflicts in the field
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure smooth workflow and milestones
  • Track daily progress, field changes, and deviations; update as-built documentation
  • Conduct field inspections to verify workmanship, materials, and quality standards
  • Participate in site meetings to address project status, risks, and schedule impacts
  • Support commissioning, startup, and performance testing of industrial systems and equipment
  • Redline engineering documentation based on site work and changes
  • Assist with preparing RFIs, submittals

Position Salary: $60/HR (Depending on Experience) + Per Diem

Requirements:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).

  • 3+ years of experience in industrial construction, field engineering, or related technical roles with a focus in the electrical space

  • Experience in industries such as manufacturing, data centers, power generation, oil & gas, water treatment, or large-scale mechanical systems preferred.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues on site.

  • Must be willing to travel wherever the project requires. Upon hire, this position will spend approx. 4 weeks in Houston, TX with the design engineering team to integrate into the project and understand the design. Then will be at site thereafter and remain there until site construction is completed.

  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or shifts as required by project demands.

  • Strong understanding of construction methods and safety regulations

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, project plans, and specifications

  • Reliable and ability to communicate in a timely manner

  • Familiarity with construction management software is a plus

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, and lift (up to 50 pounds) as required by site activities

  • Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to:

  • DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 5 years
