Job summary

Merrick & Company invites a college or graduate student in Electrical or Architectural Engineering to join a paid summer internship for Summer 2027 at our Chamblee (Atlanta area), GA office, with additional locations in Greenwood Village, CO and San Antonio, TX.

You will gain hands-on experience on projects involving electrical power, lighting, grounding, sustainability, LEED, and renewable energy design, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, communicating with clients and contractors,

Qualifications

• Must graduate after August 2027.
• Must be pursuing an Electrical or Architectural Engineering degree with an electrical emphasis from an ABET accredited university.
• Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in grad school.

Responsibilities

• Gain technical experience in electrical engineering including facility electrical power, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, and communication systems.
• Engage with clients and contractors, follow schedules and budgets, and work independently.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver real project work during the internship.

OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Electrical or Architectural Engineering student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2027 at our Greenwood Village, CO, San Antonio, TX, or Chamblee (Atlanta area), GA office.

Merrick's Summer Internship Program offers meaningful, hands-on experience for students.

Designed as a shorter-term, exploratory experience, internships allow students to apply what they're learning in school while gaining exposure to real projects, professional collaboration, and day-to-day life at an employee-owned company.

The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2027.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Merrick Intern Program will provide an undergraduate or graduate student an opportunity to gain technical experience in the field of electrical engineering. Our intern will be exposed to a variety of electrical engineering experiences and tasks including, but not limited to, facility electrical power, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, communication systems, the LEED certification process, sustainable buildings, and renewable energy design.

The position requires the collaboration with other disciplines, ability to interface with clients and contractors, follow schedules and budget commitments, work independently, possess good written and oral communication skills and the ability to problem solve.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have graduation date after August 2027 to be eligible.
• Must be pursuing an engineering degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an electrical emphasis from an ABET accredited university.
• Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in grad school.
• Knowledge of facility electrical and lighting design and/or power system design.
• Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of Revit.
• Knowledge of lighting design software (AGi32, ElumTools)
• Knowledge of power distribution design software (SKM PowerTools, Easy Power).
• Local candidates preferred.
