Job summary

Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to oversee the preparation of cost estimates for industrial electrical projects.

The role coordinates with multiple departments to ensure estimates align with company standards and client expectations, guiding the district estimating program and bid submissions. The position requires 5+ years of estimating experience, familiarity with power feeders and industrial electrical installations, and leadership capabilities

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience.
• Familiarity with power feeders, controls and signal systems for industrial applications.
• Experience estimating industrial electrical installations such as water/wastewater treatment facilities, refineries, and battery storage facilities.

• Assist district manager in the review of all estimates; arrange and coordinate second estimates, maintain past cost history and comparable details.
• Maintain training program for estimating staff, update and maintain lead estimator and sponsor manuals, and supervise district scheduling department.
• Coordinate with the business development department in the preparation of proposal documents.
• Prepare recaps, pricing sheets, bid forms, and other proposal documents for in-house review and bid submittal.

Position Overview

The Electrical Estimator is responsible for overseeing the preparation of accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for construction projects. This role involves coordinating with various departments, analyzing project requirements, and ensuring that all estimates are aligned with company standards and client expectations. The Lead Estimator plays a crucial role in the bidding process, helping the company secure profitable projects while maintaining competitive pricing.

Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) is a subsidiary of the Kiewit Corporation, since our founding in 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts, Mass. Location

This position can be based in our Irvine, CA or Waltham, MA office.

Responsibilities

• Implement and oversee district estimating program and activities including the development of policies and procedures.
• Assist district manager in the review of all estimates; arrange and coordinate second estimates, maintain past cost history and comparable details.
• Maintain training program for estimating staff, update and maintain lead estimator and sponsor manuals, and supervise district scheduling department.
• Maintain district standards for control budgets and develop project level staffing plan to ensure the project has adequate support after award.
• Coordinate with the business development department in the preparation of proposal documents.
• Ensure training of all new graduates is scheduled for engineers in estimating and Field Engineer duties.
• Provide estimating support for numerous projects, perform quantity takeoffs, and solicit, evaluate, and incorporate vendor or manufacturer material and subcontract pricing.
• Prepare recaps, pricing sheets, bid forms, and other proposal documents for in-house review and bid submittal.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience
• Familiarity with power feeders, controls and signal systems for industrial applications.
• Experience in estimating industrial electrical installations, such as water/wastewater treatment facilities, refineries, and battery storage facilities.
• Strong work ethic and interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
• Ability to work on a team as well as work independently with little or no supervision
• Experience with standard office computer software
• Experience with Accubid Anywhere and Bluebeam is preferred.
• Results-oriented with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
• Ability to travel when necessary for pre-bid job walks and bid reviews
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with an emphasis in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering is preferred but not a pre-requisite.

Base Compensation:$115,000/yr -$145,000/yr
