Job summary

Area Energy & Electric, Inc. in Sidney, OH is seeking an Electrical Estimator to prepare accurate bids for commercial and industrial projects and support project managers from award through closeout.

The role emphasizes thorough takeoffs, vendor pricing, and cost control to secure profitable work in western Ohio. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of estimating experience (or 5+ years in field roles with estimating interest), strong NEC knowledge, and the ability to read multiple drawing

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical estimating experience in the commercial and industrial electrical field.
• OR 5+ years of field experience as a journeyman or foreman with a strong interest in estimating.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, architectural, civil and structural drawings and specifications.
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and electrical construction methods.
• Efficient and detail-oriented, with strong math and organization skills.
• Strong communication, multitasking and prioritization skills; able to manage several bids against firm deadlines.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Review bid documents, drawings and addenda to define project scope.
• Set up projects in estimating software, including drawings, systems and bid items.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for power, lighting, branch circuits, feeders and site work.
• Build complete estimates covering material, labor, equipment, subcontractors, overhead and profit.
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for pricing and scope coverage.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks; identify risks and value-engineering opportunities.
• Prepare clear proposals with qualifications, clarifications, alternates and exclusions.
• Hand off awarded jobs with complete estimates, scope and schedule of values.
