About the job Electrical Engineering Technician

Are you an experienced engineer with a knack for designing and optimizing electrical control systems? Our client is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer Technician to join their team. This role is perfect for someone with a background in designing electric motor controls for overhead cranes and hoists and is eager to tackle a variety of engineering challenges.

This role will be onsite in North Houston, TX

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Design: Design electric motor controls for overhead cranes and hoists.
  • Application: Apply specifications of Magnetic Motor Starters, Relays, and AC inverters.
  • Support: Assist in all phases of product development engineering activities.
  • Calculations: Calculate wire sizes/overload protection for cranes up to 800V DC and 4160V AC.
  • Problem Resolution: Resolve manufacturing problems by collaborating with engineers and technicians.
  • Drawings: Prepare single-line diagrams, panel layouts, and interconnect drawings.
  • Component Specification: Size and specify purchase components/BOMs based on standards and vendor information.
  • Design Improvement: Provide input for design improvements to enhance functions or reduce costs.
  • Collaboration: Work with mechanical engineering and manufacturing for control system design.
  • Documentation: Develop connection/cable diagrams and general arrangement drawings.
  • Field Support: Travel to sites for meetings or troubleshooting control systems when required.

Must have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • 4+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer
  • 4+ years of experience with Electrical Design
  • 3+ years experience with Motor Controls
  • PLC & HMI Programming experience
  • NEC Electrical Code
  • Rockwell, Siemens, or Danfoss PLC/VFD programming experience
