Job summary

Anduril Industries in Costa Mesa, CA is seeking an Electronics Lab Technician to build, test, and troubleshoot complex electronic assemblies. You will assemble cable harnesses and perform SMT and through-hole soldering, routing wires per schematics and documentation, while using benchtop test equipment to verify PCB performance.

You will document test data, support engineering analysis, maintain safety and lab standards, and assist in calibration.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in electronics testing, assembly, and rework in an R&D or production environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and datasheets.
  • Proficiency in fine-pitch SMT and through-hole soldering (IPC J-STD-001) with PCB rework experience.
  • Experience building and modifying complex cable and wire harness assemblies (IPC-620).
  • Ability to diagnose electronic failures to component level with standard test equipment.
  • Understanding of product development lifecycles, reliability, and compliance testing.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-organizing and capable of prioritizing multiple lab tasks.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

  • Execute comprehensive test plans using benchtop equipment to verify PCB and system performance.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose failures down to component level and implement repairs.
  • Document test data, rework actions, and failure modes for engineering analysis.
  • Maintain lab environment to safe, calibrated standards and assist in equipment upkeep.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Build, assemble, and modify complex cable and wire harness assemblies, including crimping contacts, soldering various connector types, and routing wires according to schematics and build documentation.
  • Perform precision PCB rework and assembly, including surface-mount (SMT) and through-hole soldering, component replacement, and jumper wire installation under a microscope. This also includes conformal coating and staking operations.
  • Execute comprehensive test plans: set up, configure, and operate benchtop test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, signal generators, etc.) to verify performance of PCBs and integrated electronic systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose failures in electronic assemblies (PCBs and harnesses) down to the component level using schematics, layouts, and wiring diagrams, then execute necessary repairs.
  • Accurately document test data, rework actions, assembly details, and failure modes to support engineering analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Lab maintenance: Assist in maintaining the lab environment to clean and safe standards, including equipment calibration.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in electronics testing, assembly, and rework in an R&D or production environment.
  • Strong technical literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, bill of materials (BOMs), and technical datasheets.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in fine-pitch SMT and through-hole soldering (IPC J-STD-001 or equivalent standards). Experience with PCB rework, component replacement, and modification.
  • Proven experience in building and modifying complex cable and wire harness assemblies, including crimping, soldering various connector types, and routing (IPC-620 or equivalent standards).
  • Proficiency in diagnosing electronic failures to the component level using standard test equipment and documentation.
  • Understanding of product development lifecycles, reliability, and compliance testing.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-organizing: Able to prioritize simultaneous tasks in an electronics lab/test environment.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Associate degree in Electrical/Electronics, Computer, Mechanical Technologies, or related fields.
  • Active IPC-610, IPC-620, and J-STD-001 certifications.
  • Experience using ECAD viewers (Altium, Eagle, OrCAD, etc.) to locate components on a board layout.
  • Environmental testing: Familiarity with thermal chambers, vibration tables, and burn-in procedures.
US Hourly Range

$41.35 — $54.81 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
