Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Electrical Engineer for our Advanced Manufacturing group to design power distribution for data centers and critical facilities. You will work on data center projects, coordinate with the design team, and interact with clients and contractors on site. This role is location-flexible in the U.S.

and involves collaboration across disciplines to deliver constructible designs. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, 6+ years of design experience, and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 6+ years of experience in engineering design of medium and low voltage distribution systems.
  • Experience with data center facilities design and construction.
  • Working knowledge of Revit or BIM software.
  • Solid knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design work for data center power distribution systems, UPS, emergency systems, grounding, lighting, and low voltage communications.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and interact with clients and contractors.
  • Review design packages and ensure quality during the design process.
  • Produce construction documents and assist with the design basis for projects.
  • Manage quality, scope, budget, and schedule as needed.

Your impact

'As an Electrical Engineer in our Advanced Manufacturing group, you’ll contribute to projects that enable the heart of our clients’ successful data center facilities engineering, design and construction. In this role, you will have the chance to work on projects including engineering and design of data centers and other mission-critical facilities. This position is location flexible in the U.S.

  • You'll provide design work, contribute to team technical collaboration, perform quality reviews of design packages, and assist directly with other portions of the design process.
  • You may also interact directly with the client, owner, and contractors to assist construction on site.
  • You and the other members of your electrical design team will work closely with the broader multi-discipline team in a fast paced, dynamic, collaborative environment to establish design requirements and produce construction documents.
  • Your responsibilities will include engineering and design for data center facility power distribution systems, UPS, emergency systems, grounding, lighting, and low voltage communications systems in complex industrial facilities.
  • Design may also include retrofit of existing building systems to accommodate our clients’ continually evolving requirements.
  • Additional responsibilities may include the management of quality, scope, budget and schedule.

Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • At least 6 year experience in engineering design of medium and low voltage distribution systems, building electrical systems, and campus-style power distribution including conveyance
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with industrial facility design
  • Working knowledge of Revit or BIM software
  • Solid working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

The base salary range for this position is $127,000.00 to $155,650.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
