Job summary

KLH Engineers, Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking an Electrical Engineer Manager to lead electrical power distribution and control system design for municipal and industrial water facilities.

You will guide SCADA, pumps, VFDs, and instrumentation, coordinate with clients and contractors, and support startup and commissioning in both field and office settings.

This role requires a PE and 5+ years of experience, delivering practical, reliable solutions with a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• BS in electrical engineering or closely related field.
• PE designation required or in process of obtaining.
• Experience in electrical power distribution for water/wastewater facilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of electrical power distribution and process control systems for water and wastewater facilities.
• Specify systems for pumps, blowers, VFDs, SCADA, and process instrumentation.
• Prepare detailed electrical designs, construction documents, and specifications.
• Perform field investigations to assess existing conditions and collect upgrade data.
• Assist clients with troubleshooting electrical and operational issues.
• Provide startup, commissioning, and operations support for new systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable, maintainable solutions.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors and project teams to keep projects moving.

We’re currently looking for an Electrical Engineer Manager to join our growing team in our Pittsburgh office. What You’ll Do:

• Lead the design and development of electrical power distribution and process control systems for municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment facilities.
• Design and specify systems related to pumps, blowers, variable frequency drives (VFDs), SCADA systems, and process control instrumentation.
• Develop detailed electrical engineering designs, construction documents, and technical specifications for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Conduct field investigations to evaluate existing conditions and gather critical information related to proposed system upgrades and improvements.
• Assist clients with troubleshooting electrical and operational issues within existing treatment and pumping systems.
• Provide startup, commissioning, and operational support for newly installed electrical and control systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop efficient, reliable, and maintainable solutions for complex infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal project teams to ensure projects move forward smoothly and successfully.
• Apply sound engineering judgment to solve technical challenges and support critical infrastructure systems that communities depend on every day.

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in the detailed design of electrical power distribution and process control systems for municipal and/or industrial water and wastewater treatment facilities.
• Professional Engineering Designation (P.E.)
• Hands-on experience with pumps, blowers, VFDs, SCADA systems, and process control instrumentation.
• Ability to work both in the office and in the field, whether that means investigating existing systems, troubleshooting operational issues, or supporting system startups.
• Ability to balance technical precision with practical, real-world application.
