Job summary

Spero Solutions in Oak Ridge/Tullahoma area is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for facility electrical power systems, industrial machine electrical systems, controls electronics and hardware design.

The role is hands-on, focusing on electrical infrastructure, manufacturing support, electrical safety, capital projects and engineering-team development, with relocation to Oak Ridge preferred.

Qualifications

• Ten years of electrical engineering experience preferred.
• Experience leading engineers, technicians, or contractors.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, arc-flash requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop electrical power engineers, electronics engineers and technicians.
• Oversee facility electrical systems, including 480V/240V distribution, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, UPS systems and emergency generators.
• Serve as the site’s Electrical Authority Having Jurisdiction.
• Establish and enforce electrical engineering, NEC and NFPA 70E standards.
• Support motors, VFDs, control panels, instrumentation, sensors, wiring and PLC hardware interfaces.
• Review electrical calculations, single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams and design packages.
• Lead root-cause investigations involving electrical failures, outages and equipment downtime.
• Support new equipment installations, facility upgrades, startup and commissioning.
• Partner with Manufacturing, Facilities, Maintenance, Automation and EHS.
• Manage engineering contractors, system integrators, equipment vendors and outside consultants.
• Support capital projects from initial scope and design review through construction and turnover.
• Improve electrical reliability, energy efficiency, equipment availability and workplace safety.
• Ensure electrical drawings and as-built documentation remain accurate and controlled.

Position Overview

The manager will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for facility electrical power systems, industrial machine electrical systems, controls electronics and electrical hardware design.

This is a hands-on technical leadership position that combines plant electrical infrastructure, manufacturing support, electrical safety, capital projects, equipment reliability and engineering-team development.

Preferred Background

• 10 years of electrical engineering experience, although highly qualified senior candidates may still be considered.
• Electrical Engineering degree.
• Industrial plant, manufacturing, chemical, refining, power-generation or nuclear experience.
• Experience leading engineers, technicians or technical contractors.
• Strong power-distribution knowledge, including switchgear, MCCs, transformers, UPS systems, generators, motors and VFDs.
• NEC, NFPA 70E, arc-flash and electrical-safety experience.
• Capital-project, construction and commissioning experience.
• Controls, instrumentation, automation or electrical-hardware experience.
• Previous experience as an electrical design authority, AHJ or senior technical approver is highly valuable.
• Nuclear or DOE experience is preferred but not required.
