Job summary

OneEnergy Renewables is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to support utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. You will work on AutoCAD-based drawings, electrical deliverables, and interconnection design with a multidisciplinary team.

The 12-week summer internship reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager, offering exposure to Development, Engineering, Accounting, FP&A, and Legal teams. Compensation is $25/hour and the position is on-site in Boulder, CO.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Foundational knowledge of NEC/ NESC/ IBC and related industry standards.
• Experience using AutoCAD or similar engineering software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing AutoCAD-based engineering drawings and design documents under supervision.
• Support preparation of electrical deliverables and construction drawing packages for solar and BESS projects.
• Participate in design activities for utility-scale PV and BESS, including interconnection-related tasks.
• Collaborate with Development, Engineering, and Delivery teams to support project execution.
• Share knowledge and best practices with team members.

About The Role

The Electrical Engineering Intern will support the design, development, and execution of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects at various stages of planning, design, and construction. This full-time summer internship reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager and provides exposure to multidisciplinary project teams across Development, Engineering, Accounting, Financial Planning, and Legal.

This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in renewable energy project engineering while contributing to the successful delivery of clean energy infrastructure.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in the development of AutoCAD-based engineering drawings and design documents under the guidance of engineering staff.
• Support the preparation of electrical engineering deliverables and construction drawing packages for solar energy projects.
• Participate in the design of utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS), including interconnection-related design activities and compliance with utility interconnection requirements.
• Collaborate with Development, Engineering, and Delivery teams to facilitate successful project execution and continuous improvement.
• Share lessons learned, technical knowledge, and best practices with team members.
• Contribute positively to a collaborative and professional work environment.
• Represent OneEnergy professionally in interactions with project stakeholders and business partners.
• Support the company's leadership and innovation initiatives within the renewable energy industry.

Qualifications

What you'll bring

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
• Basic understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), International Building Code (IBC), and related industry standards.
• Foundational knowledge of AC power distribution and transmission systems.
• Experience using AutoCAD and other engineering or graphical software tools.
• Interest in learning ETAP and other electrical system modeling and design software.
• Hands-on construction experience or a practical understanding of electrical construction practices is preferred.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general computer software tools.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines simultaneously.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Dates And Deadlines

• The 12-week internship will run from Tuesday, June 1st - Friday, August 20th. Start and end dates can be flexed based on school schedule.
• Applications are due on Monday, October 12th.

Compensation

OneEnergy’s compensation packages are dependent on an array of factors including, but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, geographic location, and other organizational needs. Interns will be paid an hourly rate of $25/hour.
