Job summary

Bascom Hunter is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to support the development, integration, and testing of aerospace and defense systems. The intern will work alongside engineers across multiple disciplines and may support projects throughout the design, development, integration, and testing lifecycle.

Responsibilities include assisting with design, fixture development, test planning, circuit analysis, and LabVIEW software for data acquisition.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • Sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate-level student preferred.
  • Foundational understanding of electrical engineering principles, circuit analysis, and electronic systems.
  • Knowledge or coursework related to embedded systems, microcontrollers, digital signal processing, or electronics preferred.
  • Experience with engineering analysis and simulation tools such as SPICE, MATLAB, or similar software preferred.
  • Software programming experience is desired.
  • LabVIEW experience is preferred.
  • Experience with engineering CAD software is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

  • Create and update engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, technical meetings, and project discussions.

Bascom Hunter is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to support the development, integration, and testing of aerospace and defense systems. This position provides hands-on engineering experience across a variety of projects, including defense electronics, embedded and digital systems, test equipment, and thermal management and control systems.

The intern will work alongside engineers across multiple disciplines and may support projects throughout the design, development, integration, and testing lifecycle. Specific assignments will vary based on current program needs, the intern's experience, and area of study.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the design, development, integration, and testing of electrical and electronic systems.
  • Design, build, wire, and troubleshoot test fixtures and engineering test equipment.
  • Support testing and debugging of electronic hardware, embedded systems, and system-level assemblies.
  • Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and engineering documentation.
  • Conduct circuit analysis, simulations, and other engineering analyses to evaluate system performance.
  • Assist with embedded systems, microcontrollers, digital signal processing, and related electronics development.
  • Support development and testing of thermal management, power, and control systems.

  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software, systems, and other engineering disciplines to support project requirements.
  • Assist with project logistics, laboratory activities, and test preparation.
  • Provide updates on assigned tasks and project progress.
  • Learn and apply industry-standard engineering tools, processes, and methodologies.
Qualifications:

This is a paid internship that may be full-time or part-time depending on the academic calendar and candidate availability. Interns may work up to approximately 20 hours per week during the academic semester and up to 40 hours per week during summer break. Start and end dates are flexible based on availability and program needs.

The internship provides the opportunity to gain practical experience working on aerospace and defense programs and may lead to consideration for future internship or full-time employment opportunities with Bascom Hunter.
