IB Abel, Inc. invites an Electrical Engineering Intern for Spring 2027 at our York, PA office to gain hands-on experience in electrical power distribution, CAD/BIM work, and collaboration on commercial and industrial projects.

You will assist with design tasks, calculations, field observations, takeoffs, and estimating while developing technical writing and MS Office skills under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in BSEE/BSEET accredited four-year full-time program.
• Possess technical writing ability.
• Able to work with minimal supervision.
• Proficient in the use of MS Office products.

Responsibilities

• Assist design of electrical power distribution and lighting for commercial/industrial/substation projects.
• Assist in performing electrical engineering calculations and studies.
• Coordinate with other disciplines (engineering, architectural, construction).
• Coordinate with electric utility companies.
• Perform field observations and survey activities.
• Perform CAD and BIM work.
• Interact with customers to investigate and provide recommendations regarding power quality issues.
• Copy, scan, and assemble print jobs.
• Assist in job takeoff and estimating.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern (Spring 2027 Semester), who is responsible for performing general electrical engineering and drafting tasks, as well as related tasks described below, and as may be required by the company.

This role is ideal for individuals who want to obtain experience and provide support to our construction/electrical utility services and wants to join a dedicated, fast-moving team and who is thorough, precise, and is a true team player.

Location & Travel

• Office assignment: York Office (preferred)
• Occasional travel as necessary to other offices or yard locations, trainings, offsite meetings, and customer facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in design of electrical power distribution, lighting, and related systems for commercial, industrial, and substation projects.
• Assist in performing electrical engineering calculations and studies.
• Coordinate with other engineering, architectural, and construction disciplines.
• Coordinate with electric utility companies.
• Perform field observations and survey activities.
• Perform Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) work.
• Interact with customers to investigate and provide recommendations regarding power quality issues.
• Copy, scan, and assemble print jobs.
• Assist in job takeoff and estimating.

Required

Who We’re Looking For

• Enrollment in BSEE/BSEET accredited four-year full-time program.
• Possess technical writing ability.
• Able to work with minimal supervision.
• Proficient in the use of MS Office products.

Desired

• Knowledge of and/or aptitude in AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, and Visual.
• Interest in electrical power systems engineering field.

Other

• Valid driver’s license required to operate company or personal vehicle for company business.
• Must be able to present acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorizations per the Federal I-9 requirement.
