Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. in Boise, Idaho, is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern for Engineering Services. You'll support staff and customers, develop knowledge of SEL processes, and help test new technology in power systems.

This internship blends hands-on work on 3-phase power systems, emulators, and PLC-related tasks, with documentation and teamwork. On-site position with flexible summer/full-time and part-time school-year schedules, culminating potentially in full-time

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with at least one year of technical coursework; graduating in May or December 2028.
On-site Boise, ID; full-time in summer, part-time during school year.
Experience in programming and scripting.
Practical knowledge of 3-phase power systems.
Familiar with emulators and logic analyzers.
Proficiency with MS Windows and serial port terminal emulation software.
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
Willing to learn new skills and work well in a team.
Background check satisfactory and negative drug test.

Responsibilities

Providing technical support to SEL staff & customers.
Developing and maintaining knowledge in SEL processes and technologies.
Performing testing on new and existing technology.
Assisting engineers with electrical enclosure and test rack creation.
Developing simulators and performing test for customer Protection/Automation systems.
Assisting with HMI creation, PLC programming.
Assisting with Power system studies and SEL relay settings.
Performing research into and testing on new tools and technologies.
Other duties as assigned.
