  • Design and document normal, standby and emergency power distribution systems.
  • Design and document normal and emergency lighting systems for interior and exterior applications.
  • Perform calculations to support designs.
  • Work through all project design phases including construction administration.
  • Work on varying project types and sizes including laboratories, educational facilities, office spaces, mission critical facilities, and cultural facilities.

Job Description

AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Arlington on November 18-19, 2026. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2027.

The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You'll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.

On Thursday, interviews will take place at our Arlington office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to be based in Arlington, VA.

This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2027.

Internships at AECOM offer students in undergraduate and graduate programs the opportunity to gain valuable hands‑on experience in engineering, design, and infrastructure projects that make a real‑world impact. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field and must have completed at least two of years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor's degree and plan to continue with the Master's degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor's degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Use AutoCAD and/or Revit for creating construction documents, sketches, etc.
  • Knowledge of SKM and/or ETAP to perform electrical studies.
  • Knowledge of AGi32 software to perform lighting calculations.
  • Experience of design work for new construction and renovation projects.
  • Prior internship experience utilizing drafting, surveying, and/or construction administration skills.
Additional Information
  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes office work in Arlington, VA. The selected candidate must be available to work in Arlington, VA.
