Proception Inc. in Mountain View, CA, seeks an electrical engineering intern to help design, test, and validate PCBAs for multi-actuator robotic systems. You’ll work hands-on with PCBs, sensors, motor drivers, and lab tools to advance dexterous manipulation.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Project experience with PCB design, bring-up, and debugging.
  • Experience with power electronics (motor driver, switch mode power supplies…), digital electronics (MCU, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C…), and analog electronics (filters, ADC/DAC…).
  • Familiarity with high-speed design and layout.
  • Hands-on experience with electronics lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power analyzers.
  • PCB design experience in KiCad or Altium, including schematic capture, multi-layer layout, and component libraries.
  • Experience with Flex PCB Design.
  • Experience using LTspice, Python, and Matlab.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Design and test full or sub sections of PCBAs on the system, such as power distribution boards, battery management systems, sensing boards, motor controllers, and compute boards.
  • Integrate and test tactile, IMU, encoder, and force/torque sensor modalities for closed‑loop robotic control.
  • Help optimize PCB layouts for thermal performance, EMI/EMC, and signal‑integrity requirements.
  • Support system integration and test activities by contributing to test execution and problem diagnostics and resolution.
  • Work closely with mechanical and software teams to validate electrical designs in real robotic systems.
  • Work directly with cutting‑edge power electronics and embedded hardware for humanoid robotics.
  • Mentorship from senior electrical, firmware, robotics, and systems engineers.
  • Hands‑on access to advanced labs, tools, and custom robotic platforms.
