Job summary

WSP USA in Saint Louis, MO invites applicants to join its Summer Internship Program as a Full-Time Electrical Engineering (Distribution) Intern. You will work with the Power and Energy Team, gaining exposure to distribution design, data collection, and engineering consulting with mentors.

This 12-week program starts May 17, 2027, with a flexible start date. Open to undergrad and graduate students pursuing Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical engineering, with no relocation assistance provided.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering program with anticipated graduation Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older and authorized to work in the United States.
• Interest in Consulting Engineering or Electric Utility projects and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Learn basic principles of Electrical Engineering and distribution design under supervision.
• Support data collection, engineering studies, and consulting tasks.
• Assist with distribution planning, coordination, and arc-flash studies for MV systems.
• Adhere to WSP Code of Conduct and safety policies during all tasks.

Position

The Power and Energy Team is seeking a Full-Time Electrical Engineering (Distribution) Intern to work out of our Saint Louis, MO office. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program.

This internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program. As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 17th, 2027. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible.

Your Impact

• Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal of developing technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Electrical Engineering
• Work under the guidance of experienced engineers on distribution design
• Assist with data collection and engineering consulting services
• Support distribution planning, coordination, sectionalizing, and arc-flash studies for Medium Voltage systems
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
• Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.

Required Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering or related, Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Consulting Engineering, Electric Utility industry, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited engineering degree or related Masters program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
• Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.
