Job summary

Astrion seeks an Electrical Engineer to support the 96th Test Wing under the TMAS contract at EGLIN AFB, FL. The role requires a BS or MS in EE with at least 3 years of experience and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. Occasional travel <10% is possible.

Responsibilities include defining instrumentation requirements, data collection, sensor designs, and integration of avionics with test systems. Strong teamwork and mission-critical solutions are essential.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering (BSEE or MSEE).
  • 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instrumentation and modification, advice, and assistance.
  • Provide advice and assistance services in support of the process of designing, implementing, installing, and maintaining instrumentation.
  • Define instrumentation requirements for tests and assess the utility of the instrumentation relative to the analysis requirements.
  • Define test data collection requirements and ensure the instrumentation packages meet these requirements.
  • Conduct detailed engineering analysis for test data requirements of a system to be tested.
  • Determine the most suitable method of measuring the required phenomena.
  • Design suitable sensor configurations, data systems, camera installations, etc.
  • Arrange for the fabrication of special devices.
  • Prepare modification proposal packages.
  • Ensure that planned modifications are technically correct.
  • Prepare technical procedures and directives to ensure proper operation of instrumentation systems.
  • Research local supply sources for availability of basic subsystems and components.
  • Prepare letters of instruction to other units specifying the engineering and fabrication support necessary to produce in-house hardware.
  • Advise on availability of useful commercially available items.
  • Coordinate and monitor system hardware preparation to ensure activities are completed on time, are compatible with, and are fully integrated into a complete and functional system.
  • Install test instrumentation systems on test aircraft and weapon systems.
  • Monitor the progress of project instrumentation support quality of service rendered and data produced, and compliance with time and cost schedules sometimes in unfavorable climatic conditions.
  • Review airborne instrumentation systems, technical plans and documentation to ensure technical adequacy and required coordination.
  • Manage, use, and deconflict onboard systems and subsystems required to conduct flight operations.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on electronic systems to other project personnel.
  • Provide inputs to cost estimates for instrumentation efforts.
  • Provide inputs on the integration of avionics systems on board weapons systems.
  • Attend test planning meetings and TIMs to define test instrumentation and data acquisition system development.
  • Provide technical advice in order to conduct EO/IR defensive systems tests.
