Job summary

Fluidstack is hiring an Electrical Substation Design Engineer to craft campus interconnection designs, HV yards, and MV distribution layouts. You will own both physical and electrical design aspects, specifying equipment and resolving utility review feedback.

You will help standardize designs across sites to drive efficiency and reliability. Ideal candidates have experience with transformer, breaker, and switchgear selection at transmission class, plus energization support.

Qualifications

• HV substations design experience including physical layouts, one-line diagrams, and protection interfaces.
• Experience taking substation packages through utility review.
• Ability to specify transformers, breakers, and switchgear at transmission class.
• Experience supporting substation construction and energization activities.
• Experience productizing designs rather than redrawing existing work.
• Nice to have: 138kV+ experience and grounding studies (IEEE 80).

Role Scope

• Engineer substation designs for campus interconnection: HV yards and MV distribution substations in the reference design.

• Own the physical and electrical design: layouts, bus configurations, and equipment specs to utility standards.

• Interface with utilities and consultants: requirements translated into designs that pass review the first time.

• Standardize the substation: one design stamped across sites instead of bespoke yards.

• Bonus: 138kV-plus experience. Grounding studies (IEEE 80). GIS substations. Interconnection processes.
