Overview
Kimley-Horn's Raleigh, North Carolina (NC) office is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their Renewable Energy team! This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design of electrical systems including renewable generation, energy storage, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, building electrical, and battery storage projects
- Perform design on a wide variety of projects, such as photometrics and lighting, power distribution, EV charging, and more
- Responsible for the development of design documents and reports, including electrical layouts, equipment schematics and block diagrams, electrical system calculations, and one-line diagrams
- Collaborate daily with multi-disciplinary teams, across Kimley-Horn offices
- Prepare project specifications, electrical construction cost estimates, and proposals to support the growth of electrical engineering services locally and nationally
- Assist in mentoring, training, and expanding the renewable energy team
- Develop reports and design documents, including electrical design plans, EV charging infrastructure, equipment selection, solar system sizing, and power analyses
Qualifications
- 4+ years experience in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) License or ability to obtain within 12 months
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code, Safety Code, IEEE, and ANSI Standards
- Willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings
- Teamwork skills; ability to collaborate and mentor junior staff
- Preferred qualifications include experience in utility-scale PV, MEP, HVAC, wind, energy storage, EV infrastructure, microgrids, substations, or data centers; project management; proficiency in AutoCAD; power system analysis (SKM, ETAP); transient studies (PSCAD, EMTP-RV); lighting design (AGI32); programming in Python or MATLAB.
