Job summary

Burns Engineering, Inc. is seeking a licensed Electrical Engineer to join the Power & Utilities team in Austin, TX or Philadelphia, PA.

The Engineer I will perform technical engineering tasks, studies, and designs on assigned projects and will be mentored by senior staff, with increasing autonomy for moderate complexity work. Required is a Professional Engineering License and a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, with 5–8 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed engineer with a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and at least 5-8 years related experience and/or training.
• Professional Engineering License is required at this level.
• Experience with design software (AutoCAD, Revit) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete discipline specific engineering for systems and designs of moderate complexity.
• Assist in developing design approaches and concepts on projects with moderate complexity; consult with senior technical staff when needed.
• Assist in the development of proposals and presentations to clients.
• Perform engineering studies and design analyses and assist the Project Manager in establishing budgets, cost estimates, and project schedules.
• Review drawings, RFIs, and records of changes and communicate with suppliers, contractors, and client representatives as required.
• Perform on-site surveys and inspections during design and construction stages and issue written reports noting deficiencies.
• Assist in the coordination of project designs with other disciplines and teams.
• Attend client and/or project meetings when requested.
• Write technical specifications with oversight from senior technical staff.
• Assist Project Manager with the delegation, collaboration, and review of project work tasks of CAD Operators, CAD Technicians, Designers, Co-Ops, Interns, Engineering Design Associates, and Engineering Associates.
• May lead in developing design approaches and concepts on projects of low complexity.
• Perform all tasks in compliance with Burns standards, procedures, and codes.

SUMMARY

The Engineer Iwillbe responsible forperforming technical engineering tasks, technical studies and investigations, and designs on assigned projects. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No formal supervisory responsibilities.Under the oversight of the Project Manager, theEngineerImay provide direction to CAD Operators, CAD Technicians, Designers, Co-Ops, Interns, Engineering Design Associates, and Engineering Associates.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Professionally Licensed Engineer with a Bachelor's (B.S.) Electrical Engineering degree and at least 5-8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

ProfessionalEngineering License isrequiredat this level.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Progressive engineering experience working on tasks of moderate complexity.
• Strong knowledge in the use of engineering design software such as AutoCAD orRevitand other specialized design software asrequired.
• Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to solve problems of moderate complexity with minimum supervision from leaders or management.
• Progressive ability to perform technical calculations.
• Ability to research and interpret engineering discipline codes and standards.
• Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multipleassignmentsand manage changing assignments in a team environment.
• Proactive, good communicator (oral and written), and strong analytical and problem-solving skills to trouble shoot and assess key issues to address.

• Previousexperience in consulting is highly preferred.
