Job summary

Shermco Industries, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer- Power Studies to join our team in the United States. The role focuses on design, analysis and studies for domestic or international projects, including short-circuit and arc-flash work.

Qualified candidates will perform power quality analyses and coordinate with clients, with occasional field work under Field Services supervision on shutdowns and startups. Strong communication skills in English are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc-flash and power quality studies preferred.
• Proficient with power system modeling software (SKM/ETAP/ASPEN/EZPower).
• Knowledge of high voltage up to 500 kV.
• Strong English communication skills for customers and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct short-circuit, protective device coordination and arc-flash studies.
• Perform power factor analysis and correction, harmonic modeling and analysis, and grounding analysis.
• Occasionally interact with customers to gather critical information and review engineering plans.
• Occasionally work in the field under the direction of Field Services team on shut-down, startup and maintenance projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 2 years relevant experience; prefer educational focus in Power Systems studies.
• Experience in short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc-flash and power quality studies PREFFERED.
• Must have experience using SKM, ETAP, ASPEN, EZPower, or other power system modeling software.
• Must have knowledge of low, medium and high-voltage up to 500 kV.
• Must be able to clearly communicate in English via verbal and written methods and be comfortable doing so directly to customers and co-workers.
• Field experience with substations or switchgear highly desirable.
• Utility design experience a plus.
• Availability for occasional domestic and international travel a plus.
