Job summary

SpaceXAI seeks exceptional Electrical Engineers to join our Memphis-area team to design, build, and optimize on-site power generation for high-density AI supercomputing facilities. You will own plant electrical systems for gas turbine generation, from generator to 34.5 kV collection/export, including protection, e-houses, and switching.

You will collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and power systems teams to deliver reliable, massive-scale generation and ensure compliance with standards.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking exceptional Electrical Engineers to join our growing team in Memphis and help design, build, and optimize on-site power generation for SpaceXAI's high-density AI supercomputing facilities. This role owns plant electrical systems for gas turbine generation — from generator, excitation, and synchronization through 34.5 kV collect/export, protection, e-houses, blackstart, and switching.

You will collaborate across electrical, mechanical, power systems, and construction teams to deliver reliable, massive-scale generation. This is a full-time, onsite role based in the Memphis region.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own plant electrical systems for on-site gas turbine generation supporting AI superclusters, including generators, excitation, synchronization, auxiliaries, and balance-of-plant electrical
• Design and engineer 34.5 kV collect and export systems, protection and control, e-houses, blackstart capability, and related medium-voltage infrastructure
• Serve as switching authority for plant electrical systems, including switching procedures, isolation, clearance, and energization
• Develop single-line diagrams, protection & control schematics, relay settings, and interconnection designs
• Perform detailed power system studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, transient stability, harmonics) using ETAP, PSS/E, or equivalent tools
• Integrate generation with plant systems, 34.5 kV collect/export, and downstream data center loads
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards (NERC, ERCOT, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, UL) and support permitting and utility coordination
• Support equipment specification, vendor selection, factory testing, site commissioning, and energization
• Conduct failure mode analysis (FMEA), root cause investigations, and reliability modeling to achieve extreme uptime targets
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new facility builds, capacity expansions, and continuous improvement of power standard

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics or electrical engineering technology

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with gas turbine generators, excitation, synchronization, islanded operation, and blackstart
• Experience owning plant electrical systems, including 34.5 kV collect/export, protection, e-houses, and switching authority
• Background with data centers, hyperscale facilities, or large on-site power infrastructure (>50 MW)
• Knowledge of ERCOT, NERC reliability standards, and utility interconnection processes
• Experience supporting construction, commissioning, and operations of power systems
• Track record of innovation or high-impact delivery in power infrastructure projects

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Perform hands-on work in all environments (heat, cold, rain), in tight quarters or at heights
• Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed; flexibility required
• Remain focused while working in hazardous environments, while wearing appropriate PPE
• Must be able to lift up to 25lbs unassisted
• Travel up to 50% to other locations
• Valid driver’s license
