Job summary

Exponent is seeking an Electrical Engineer (Ph.D.) for our Electrical Engineering & Computer Science practice in Menlo Park, CA. You will join a multidisciplinary team to solve challenging problems across consumer electronics, medical devices, electrical infrastructure, and related fields.

You will contribute to analyses, design, testing, and client-facing deliverables while shaping your consulting practice and collaborating across project lifecycles.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or closely related field required.
• 1–2 years of industry or postdoc experience preferred.
• Technical focus in electronics, semiconductors, circuits, electromagnetics, power electronics, or related areas.
• Experience with bench‑top optical systems or medical devices preferred.
• Experience with electrical test equipment and testing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship required.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis/consulting on electrical/electronic components, products, and systems.
• Support projects involving failure analysis, risk assessment, and reliability.
• Work as an individual contributor and in multidisciplinary teams.
• Research and develop novel methodologies to solve cutting-edge problems.
• Participate in all project lifecycle stages: scoping, design of experiments, testing, data analysis, reporting, and client presentations.
• Pursue business development opportunities.
