Job summary

Cromwell Architects Engineers, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design lighting, power distribution, and low-voltage systems for commercial, industrial, and military projects. The engineer will work both independently and in teams, effectively conveying technical information and collaborating with clients.

Responsibilities include site verification, client meetings, and preparing detailed reports. Proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD with knowledge of NEC/NFPA/IBC is desired; travel to job

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • 5–10 years of electrical design experience.
  • Experience with electrical design from concept to completion, including drawings and design narratives.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit; PTW and/or Easy Power preferred.
  • FE or PE licensure and RCCD certification preferred.
  • Travel: 5% - 10%.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IBC and related codes.

Job description

Electrical Engineer
Position Purpose

Design lighting, power distribution, and low voltage systems for commercial, industrial, and military construction of varying building types. The Electrical Engineer will work independently and as part of a team. They will be required to effectively convey technical information, collaborate with team members, and communicate with clients.

  • Electrical design, including lighting, power, and systems, using Revit for modeling.

Competencies
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards, applicable to the electrical discipline, including NEC, NFPA, IBC, etc
  • Ability to research and apply building codes and standards as updates are released
  • Knowledge of lighting concepts, technologies, controls, calculations, and emergency lighting
  • Knowledge of power distribution strategies, including generator-backed systems, load calculations, and short circuit concepts
  • General knowledge of low voltage systems such as network cabling, nurse call, security
  • Knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Excel and Word, necessary for design calculations and project narratives
  • Self-motivated to collaborate with other disciplines to meet project deadlines
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts in an understandable and concise way
  • Creative thinking to solve design issues
  • Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to work on multiple projects and stay within scope, schedule, cost and quality specifications
Qualifications / Prior Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • 5-10 years of experience in the field.
  • Experience with electrical design of projects from initial concept to completion, including drawings, specifications, and design narratives.
  • Experience with electrical building design, power distribution, and lighting
  • Prefer Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit, Power Tools for Windows (PTW) and/or Easy Power
  • Prefer FE or PE Licensure
  • Prefer RCCD Certification
  • Travel: 5% - 10%
