Job summary

Aegis Aerospace is seeking a hands‑on Electrical Engineer to design, build, and test PCB electronics for spaceflight hardware in Webster, Texas. You will collaborate with electrical, systems, mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams across the full hardware development lifecycle.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and 3+ years of hands‑on PCB design experience, with Altium Designer expertise and strong test/verification capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Experience with electrical and electronic components selection based on requirements, performance, availability and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Design analog, digital, mixed-signal, power, and embedded electrical circuits for spaceflight hardware applications

  • Develop and maintain component libraries, bills of materials, electrical drawings, and design documentation

  • Coordinate procurement, fabrication, assembly, and inspection of PCBs and electrical hardware
  • Perform initial board bring‑up, functional testing, troubleshooting, and design verification
  • Develop software, firmware, scripts, or test utilities to verify PCB functionality and electrical system performance
  • Design and evaluate DC‑DC converters, linear regulators, power distribution circuitry

Position Summary:

Aegis Aerospace is seeking a hands‑on Electrical Engineer with professional experience designing, building, and testing printed circuit board electronics to join our Space Flight Systems project team in Webster, Texas. Aegis Aerospace has a long legacy of developing space hardware payloads for the International Space Station and NASA lunar missions, and we are continuing to expand our portfolio with another ISS payload and hardware for a commercial space station. The selected candidate will serve as an individual-contributor product development engineer responsible for designing electrical circuits and printed circuit board electronics, supporting hardware through procurement, fabrication, assembly, board bring‑up, troubleshooting, and verification testing. This position requires direct involvement throughout the full electrical hardware development lifecycle and close collaboration with electrical, systems, mechanical, software, manufacturing, and quality personnel to ensure designs meet technical, schedule, safety, and mission requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design analog, digital, mixed-signal, power, and embedded electrical circuits for spaceflight hardware applications
  • Develop electrical schematics and printed circuit board designs using Altium Designer
  • Select processors, microcontrollers, integrated circuits, sensors, analog-to-digital converters, operational amplifiers, power converters, voltage regulators, connectors, and passive components
  • Develop and maintain component libraries, bills of material, electrical drawings, and design documentation
  • Perform or support PCB layout, design-rule checking, fabrication release, and manufacturing documentation
  • Coordinate the procurement, fabrication, assembly, and inspection of printed circuit boards and electrical hardware
  • Perform initial board bring‑up, functional testing, troubleshooting, and design verification using laboratory equipment
  • Identify and resolve electrical hardware issues through circuit analysis, measurement, testing, and design modification
  • Develop software, firmware, scripts, or test utilities to verify PCB functionality and electrical system performance
  • Design and evaluate DC‑DC converters, linear regulators, power‑distribution circuitry, and related power electronics
  • Design analog sensor interfaces, including passive signal conditioning, operational amplifier circuits, ADC selection, and ADC interfacing
  • Interpret electrical hardware requirement specifications
  • Develop and document electrical system and circuit‑level requirements
  • Conduct concept trade studies and evaluate electrical design options
  • Perform engineering calculations and electrical circuit analyses
  • Ensure electrical hardware designs meet size, weight, power, cost, performance, and reliability requirements
  • Define and baseline electrical interfaces to support system integration
  • Write and execute test procedures to verify and validate electrical designs
  • Prepare and present design progress, technical approach, test results, and design rationale during engineering design reviews
  • Prepare, review, and release electrical drawings and specifications to ensure technical accuracy and schedule compliance
  • Author detailed assembly, inspection, and test procedures to ensure hardware is built and tested to approved requirements
  • Support electrical hardware integration with mechanical assemblies, software, and overall spaceflight systems
  • Contribute to safety documentation and present technical information to safety review boards as required
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program teams to support project objectives
  • Support occasional evening or weekend work as needed to meet project deadlines
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project and organizational objectives
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident Green Card holder
  • Must be able to successfully complete a U.S. government background check
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of three years of professional electrical engineering experience, including direct hands‑on experience designing printed circuit board electronics
  • Professional experience using Altium Designer or a comparable professional ECAD platform for schematic capture and PCB design
  • Experience designing analog, digital, mixed‑signal, power, or embedded electrical circuits
  • Experience selecting electrical and electronic components based on system requirements, performance, availability, reliability, and environmental considerations
  • Experience supporting printed circuit boards through fabrication, assembly, board bring‑up, troubleshooting, and functional testing
  • Experience using laboratory equipment to evaluate and troubleshoot electrical system performance, including oscilloscopes, power supplies, and digital multimeters
  • Ability to perform electrical circuit calculations and technical analyses
  • Ability to read, develop, and review electrical schematics, drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills

Desired Qualifications:
  • Proficient professional experience using Altium Designer for schematic capture, PCB layout, component‑library development, design‑rule checking, and manufacturing release
  • Experience designing printed circuit boards containing embedded processors, microcontrollers, or field‑programmable gate arrays
  • Experience personally completing or directly supporting PCB layout for professionally fabricated circuit boards
  • Experience developing software or firmware to test and verify PCB functionality
  • Experience programming in C, C++, Python, or a comparable language used for embedded systems or hardware testing
  • Experience with power‑system design, including DC‑DC converters, linear regulators, power‑distribution circuits, and power‑budget analysis
  • Experience with digital measurement of analog sensors, including passive signal conditioning, operational amplifiers, ADC selection, and ADC interfacing
  • Experience with communication interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, USB, Ethernet, or RS‑422/RS‑485
  • Experience generating fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, Gerber files, bills of material, pick‑and‑place files, or other PCB manufacturing documentation
  • Experience working directly with PCB fabrication facilities, contract manufacturers, or electronics assembly vendors
  • Experience designing, procuring, manufacturing, and testing electrical hardware for extreme environments, including space, high‑temperature, vacuum, radiation, or high‑vibration conditions
  • Experience with aerospace, defense, medical‑device, industrial, robotics, oilfield, or other high‑reliability electronic hardware
  • Experience supporting formal design reviews, safety reviews, verification activities, or configuration‑controlled hardware development
Compensation:
  • Expected salary range is $100,000-$130,000 annually. Final compensation is based on education, experience, and directly relevant qualifications.
