Job summary

Nova Space Solutions, LLC is seeking an Electrical Engineer to perform complex facilities and sitewide electrical design tasks and provide technical support aligned with site standards. The role requires developing designs for construction, preparing plans, and evaluating costs while coordinating with multiple teams.

Essential qualifications include a ABET-accredited degree, 1–4 years of experience, knowledge of SKM ArcFlash, and US citizenship for NASA access.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• 1-4 years of experience in electrical engineering.
• Experience with SKM ArcFlash calculation software.
• Experience in low and high voltage power distribution, lightning protection, lighting, and UPS desired.
• FE certification in MS or LA preferred, with goal to obtain PE in 1-4 years.
• U.S. citizen status required to obtain NASA badge.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical system designs for construction of new facilities or modifications.
• Prepare plans and specifications using design software with project team members.
• Develop design proposals and estimate construction costs.
• Review vendor/submittals and RFIs to advance design to construction.
• Coordinate with other organizations and engineering disciplines.
• Review designs, specs, and cost estimates produced by the team.
• Comply with all safety and health policies and procedures.
• Monitor status of current design projects; conduct site visits for field verification.

Job Overview

Electrical Engineer will perform complex facilities and sitewide systems electrical design tasks and provide technical support in compliance with current electrical industry and site standards.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties:

• Assists in the development of electrical system designs for construction of new or modification to existing facilities.
• Prepares plans and specifications for construction packages using design software and in conjunction with other project team members.
• Develop design proposals and estimated cost of construction for completed designs.
• Assists in the review of vendor/contractor submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs) to bring product design from engineering phase to completed construction.
• Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other organizations and engineering disciplines.
• Responsible for reviewing/checking the designs, specifications, and cost estimates of electrical engineers that are part of our current team.
• Must comply with all applicable safety and health related policies and procedures.
• Monitor and report on the status of all current design projects.
• Conduct site visits with designers/drafters and other engineers to field verify as-builts, research site conditions, and develop project design strategies.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• 1-4 years of experience in electrical engineering.
• Experience with SKM ArcFlash calculation software.
• Experience in low and high voltage power distribution, lightning protection, lighting, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) desired.
• FE certification in the state of MS or LA is preferred, with desire to obtain PE within 1-4 years.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen to obtain required NASA badge.
• Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbal and written.
• Must have, and maintain, a vailid driver's license.
• Prior knowledge of a NASA site or experience with working on government installations preferred.
• Must possess exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Utilizes resourcefulness in researching various documents and databases, as well as gathering various types of information or other resources.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E.
• Ability to coordinate and manage multiple project activities simultaneously.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Windchill, and SKM is a plus.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
• Ability to present to large groups.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Dexterity to operate office equipment as required by the position.
