Job summary

Wilson Engineering seeks an Electrical and/or Controls System Engineer to join its civil engineering team serving municipal clients in Washington and Alaska. The role focuses on electrical and control systems for public infrastructure, with opportunities in design production, calculations, equipment selection, and client interaction.

The candidate will design power distribution, control systems, instrumentation, and standby power for facilities like pump stations and water/wastewater plants,

Qualifications

• 5-10+ years’ experience in electrical and/or control systems engineering design.
• PE license required and relevant municipal infrastructure exposure.
• Strong knowledge of AC and DC power systems for control/instrumentation.
• Experience with Easypower and electrical system modeling.
• Illumination design experience and WSDOT/AGI32 familiarity.
• Proficient with NEC/WAC/NFPA codes and relay logic diagrams.
• Ability to read and develop electrical drawings in AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Prepare electrical design drawings, specs, calculations, and reports.
• Design power distribution, control systems, instrumentation, and standby power.
• Assist with MCCs, VFDs, control panels, generators, and ATS.
• Coordinate electrical with civil/mechanical/structural teams.
• Engage with public agency staff, contractors, and vendors.
• Perform site visits, field investigations, and startup support.
• Review submittals, RFIs, change orders, and construction docs.
• Support facility plans, analyses, and funding documents.
• Participate in client meetings and design coordination meetings.
• Help manage schedules, budgets, and QC standards.
