Electrical Engineer, Mid-Level

Overview

This role will Design and develop complex, mixed-signal, high speed circuits and printed circuit boards for embedded processing application systems.

Responsibilities

• Design complex analog, digital, RF, and power circuity.
• Develop multilayer printed circuit board (PCBs) designs.
• Generate layer stack ups and select appropriate materials to meet system performance requirements.
• Design cable harnesses and interconnects to integrate multiple PCBs and COTS hardware.
• Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Test (DFT) principles.
• Create and maintain BOM's, fabrication and assembly documentation, and associated interface documentation.
• Test and troubleshoot manufactured hardware and support integration into deliverable system.
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems, and software engineering to ensure design meets program requirements.
• Prepare and present designs at preliminary and critical design reviews (PDR, CDR), incorporating peer and stakeholder feedback into the released baseline.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications & Education Requirements and Desired Skillsets

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline, from an accredited institution.
• 6+ years of demonstrated relevant experience.
• Extensive experiencing developing schematics for analog, digital, and power circuity, including signal conditioning, high-speed ADC/DAC's, Ethernet, Multi-Gigabit Transceivers, linear and switching power supplies, RF front ends, etc.
• Extensive experience designing complex PCBs using Altium Designer.
• Knowledge of signal and power integrity best practices, including controlled impedance traces, phase matching, and noise and crosstalk management.
• Familiarity with RF circuit components and design.
• Knowledge of IPC standards and PCB fabrication and assembly processes.
• Ability to program and test FPGA SoC's using integrated logic analyzers.
• Familiarity with VHDL firmware development for FPGAs.
• Proficient with test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal and RF generators, and network analyzers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all stakeholders.
• U.S. Citizenship with Active Secret Security clearance and ability to maintain required clearance.

Physical Description

Employees in these positions will function primarily at customer sites, field locations, and test ranges, with periodic work in office and laboratory settings. They will use standard office equipment, computers, hand tools, and electronic test equipment to set up, operate, maintain, and repair fielded systems. They will collaborate with customers, operators, maintainers, and internal engineering teams, produce service and status reports, and communicate information effectively.

These positions require frequent travel, potentially including extended deployments to remote or austere locations, and may involve working outdoors for full days in varying weather conditions. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and protective footwear may be required. Employees must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to support fielded system availability.
