Location
This position is expected to start remote with an expectation to work on a hybrid schedule once the Boise, ID office is opened.

Responsibilities
- Lead an electrical engineering team and oversee design, modification, and analysis of electrical systems for plant retrofit and new generation installations.
- Supervise and direct electrical engineers on project teams.
- Design power distribution systems and prepare specifications for procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services.
- Assist the project manager to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
- Coordinate system design activities to ensure installation and operations comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
- Prepare and review functional design drawings, including single-line, relay, metering, cable block, and schematic diagrams, and document design inputs for other drawing production and 3‑D modeling.
- Conduct detailed calculations, including auxiliary power system studies, voltage drop, protective relay settings, and arc‑flash calculations.
- Interface with vendors to prepare bills of material, equipment purchase specifications, and provide recommendations to the client.
- Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information clearly and concisely to meet client requirements and S&L formats.
- Perform independent reviews of work performed by others, including calculations and drawings.
- Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
- Develop your career via peer‑learning through S&L’s process systems and “Communities of Practice.”
- Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for construction coordination and field verification of designs.
Essential Skills and Experience
- BSEE degree from an ABET‑accredited engineering program with emphasis in power systems.
- PE license.
- Experience managing a team of electrical engineers.
- 15+ years of experience in power plant or industrial plant design, focusing on integrated, detailed system design for new facilities or modifications/replacements.
- Experience selecting equipment, materials, control philosophy, and assembling calculations and specifications.
- Experience designing medium and low voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors), communication systems, equipment selection, and analytical calculations.
- Proficiency in ETAP and/or SKM calculations.
- Technical knowledge of available electrical power distribution equipment.
- Experience serving as firm/client liaison in a lead engineering role.
- Experience reviewing other engineers’ design calculations and drawings.
Valued But Not Required Skills and Experience
- Technical knowledge and experience with instrumentation and controls engineering.
- Project management and business development experience.

Compensation Range
$145,310.00 - $222,001.00
