Job summary

Amrize is seeking an Electrical Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 at our cement plant in Midlothian, Texas. This 10-week paid internship offers hands-on experience in electrical systems, automation, and plant operations.

You'll work with senior engineers, design and maintain electrical equipment, and present learnings to leadership at the end of the program. Enrollment in Electrical Engineering at undergraduate level is required, with strong academics and a field-ready attitude.

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Strong academic performance with a solid understanding of engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Electrical System Support: Assist in the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment within the cement plant.
• Troubleshooting and Repair: Support the troubleshooting and repair of electrical issues, including motors, control systems, and other electrical components.
• Preventive Maintenance: Participate in the development and execution of preventive maintenance plans for electrical systems to ensure reliable plant operations.
• Automation and Control: Work with automation systems and control panels, including PLCs and SCADA systems, to monitor and control plant processes.
• Safety Protocols: Assist in the implementation and monitoring of safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Executive Presentation: Present learnings and contributions to our executive leadership team at the end of the internship.

What You'll Accomplish

As an Electrical Engineer Intern at our cement plant, you will gain valuable, hands‑on experience in cement production and work closely with our team of experienced engineers and professionals. Key responsibilities include:

• Electrical System Support: Assist in the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment within the cement plant.
• Troubleshooting and Repair: Support the troubleshooting and repair of electrical issues, including motors, control systems, and other electrical components.
• Preventive Maintenance: Participate in the development and execution of preventive maintenance plans for electrical systems to ensure reliable plant operations.
• Automation and Control: Work with automation systems and control panels, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, to monitor and control plant processes.

• Skill Application: Utilize a range of skills and knowledge in day-to-day operations, working collaboratively to achieve team and company goals.
• Executive Presentation: At the end of your internship, you'll present your learnings and contributions to our executive leadership team.

SCHEDULE AND ENVIRONMENT

• Work Schedule: This is an onsite role with a mandatory 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, working an 8-hour shift each day.
• Work Environment: You will be working in a cement manufacturing and production environment, which includes exposure to moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, and various weather conditions.
• Transportation: You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from the worksite.
• Travel Requirements: You may need to travel for site tours, shadowing experiences, or intern events throughout the duration of your internship.
