Job summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions seeks an Electrical Engineer Intern to support design engineering by brainstorming conceptual designs, performing electrical calculations, developing plans, and mitigating risk to keep construction crews safe.

You will join a growing team serving North America with rigorous training, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and exposure to nuclear project standards and tools, including evolving design software and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, in good standing.
• GPA of 3.0+ preferred.
• Interest in power systems engineering.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Junior or senior status preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; willingness to learn department design software.

Responsibilities

• Review wiring diagrams, schematics, data sheets, and related drawings.
• Analyze requirements from engineering standards, contracts, and proposals.
• Prepare basic calculations and drawings per Kiewit standards.
• Draft equipment specifications for major electrical components.
• Evaluate bids.
• Coordinate equipment contracts with vendors.
• Maintain engineering records and lists.
• Manage cable and raceway data using scheduling software.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, project managers, construction teams, and vendors.
• Learn design standards, engineering codes, and policies.

Position Overview

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking an Electrical Engineer Intern. We are looking for ideal candidates to grow the Kiewit team by helping establish, maintain, and improve company standards and tools while also using these standards and tools to contribute to project success. As an Electrical Engineer Intern, you will be a part of a growing team that supports all aspects of the construction process by performing innovative design engineering through brainstorming conceptual designs, performing and/or reviewing electrical calculations, developing plans, scheduling tasks to meet client needs, as well as mitigating risk to keep our construction crews safe.
