Job summary

Black & Veatch Corporation offers a Summer Intern opportunity in the Advanced Power Generation area in the Kansas City region. This position is full-time for college students pursuing an Electrical Engineering degree, with no prior experience required and onboarding steps to complete.

As an intern, you’ll assist with electrical deliverables, analyses, and design work, collaborate across disciplines, and help organize data and project documentation in a hands-on, mentorship-driven environment.

• Current enrollment in ABET accredited university in Electrical Engineering program.
• Must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search).

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of electrical engineering deliverables like reports, drawings, specifications, and studies.
• Assist with the engineering analyses, designs, and report production.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and schedule project deliverables.

As a Summer Intern at Black & Veatch, you will help address some of the world's most pressing infrastructure challenges. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects to meet our clients' needs and contribute to the growth and success of Black & Veatch. You will be assigned to a functional area in Advanced Power Generation.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of electrical engineering deliverables like reports, drawings, specifications, and studies
• Assist with the engineering analyses, designs, and report production

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant coursework or knowledge in Power Systems, Motors, Transformers, Renewable Energy, Power Delivery, or Three Phase Power Calculations
• Understanding of engineering design principles and design guides
• Problem-solving skills, effective written communication, and the ability to build relationships
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

Minimum Qualifications

No experience required. Current enrollment in ABET accredited university in Electrical Engineering program. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment

This intern position is expected to be in the office on a full-time basis.
