Team Overview

SDi's Advanced Engineering & Innovations (AE&I) team specializes in Systems Engineering and Analysis, Digital Signal Processing, Artificial Intelligence, and Software Development, providing research & development and leading-edge technology to our customers.

Description

This is a paid, 12-week summer internship opportunity open to college juniors and above. The AE&I team is seeking Electrical Engineering or related Analyst students for paid internship positions to support our innovative signal processing and artificial intelligence research, product development, and systems integration at our Warminster, Pennsylvania facility.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and document digital signal processing techniques, artificial intelligence and algorithm advances, circuit and system design, and/or Operator-Machine Interface applications to focus on ASW systems and performance improvement
• Conduct in-depth analysis of acoustic data from U.S. Navy sonobuoys and other sensors
• Participate in SBIR Research & Development activities, including new business development and customer technologies
• Develop and deliver effective reports and presentations of progress and direction to business and customer audiences
  

Required Qualifications

• U.S. citizen eligible for a DoD Secret clearance
• Enrollment as a college junior or above in electrical engineering, applied mathematics, physics, underwater acoustics or a similar degree program
• Ability to undertake occasional CONUS travel
• Ability to work independently and in a team
  
• Strong written and oral presentation skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in real-time systems signal processing, artificial intelligence, circuit, and system design & development, including test and integration
• Experience with SONAR systems design and underwater acoustics data analysis
• Experience with MATLAB, Python, GIT, and Agile
  

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the fall and winter, with hiring decisions made and offer letters extended in late winter and early spring. Internships last approximately 12 weeks during the summer.

Additional Information

This is a paid internship. All workdays are in the office.

Candidates must be willing to submit to a background check prior to employment.

Physical requirements for this position include the ability to lift 25 pounds regularly, the ability to move safely in confined spaces, the ability to wear personal protective gear correctly when needed, the ability to go onsite to company and customer worksites, the ability to remain seated for extended periods of time, the ability to use a computer keyboard, and the ability to see and respond to dangerous situations when needed.
