Job summary

Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking an Electrical Engineer at the intermediate level to design, develop, fabricate, assemble, test, and deploy electronic systems for the Savannah River Site, DOE complex, and national security missions. The role is within the Asymmetric Technologies' Cyber Physical Systems team in Aiken, SC.

The candidate should have a BS in electrical/computer engineering with 4–6 years of experience, PCB/FPGA/OT expertise, and the ability to travel 10–15% for field

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering and 4-6 years of relevant experience.
  • For ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is legally required.
  • Circuit design and simulation experience with microcontrollers (STM32/ARM Cortex preferred).
  • Programming experience: C, C++, or Assembly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, fabricate, assemble, test, and deploy electronic systems for DoE, SRS, and national security missions.
  • Provide direction and support to less senior engineers and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
  • Travel 10–15% for professional development and field assignments.

Job description

Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking to hire an Electrical Engineer at the intermediate level. Selected Candidate will design, develop, fabricate, assemble, test, and deploy a wide range of electronic systems in and other innovative solutions for the Savannah River Site, DOE complex, and National Security missions. The selected candidate will be employed at the Savannah River National Laboratory, in Asymmetric Technologies', Cyber Physical Systems team.

The selected candidate will work with engineers, scientists, researchers, technical specialists, and other professionals both within and external to Savannah River National. The selected candidate will build and strengthen relationships with laboratory employees, government agencies, academic and industry partners, through the completion of high-quality work. Ideal candidates are senior level engineers capable of leading design, development, fabrication, assembly, testing, and deployment of a wide range of electronic systems such as embedded systems, RF systems and operational technology networks. Candidate is expected to deliver results in a safe, responsible, secure, timely, and cost-effective manner. Candidates need to understand and apply advanced knowledge of standard theories, concepts, principles, techniques, and fundamentals in engineering to achieve innovative solutions. Candidates shall also scope, plan, organize, communicate, estimate, schedule, and perform technical tasks that provide creative technical solutions and address a variety of challenges. Candidate shall provide direction and support to less senior professionals. The candidate must be able to perform non-routine travel (approximately 10-15%) to complete professional development, and occasional short term remote field work and assignments.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical or computer engineering and 4-6 years of relevant experience.

  • Machine Learning Model Development
    • Pytorch Preferred
  • Operational Technology (OT) Experience
    • Programable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
    • OT Networking and communication protocols
  • Understanding of basic cyber security principles
  • RF System Experience
