Your Opportunity

As an Electrical Engineer-in-Training, you will work with guidance and direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered systems and products for project applications, verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • With direction from a project manager and/or Professional Engineer Design, develop, and optimize electrical components and systems, ensuring adherence to engineering principles and industry standards.
  • Conduct basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials.
  • Perform Revit design for the electrical discipline using knowledge of relevant software programs.
  • Work with architectural, interior, structural, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/designer.
  • Perform field work as directed by a senior engineer/designer.
  • Perform basic calculations to analyze and design individual building electrical system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
  • Assist with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
  • Assist with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Thorough understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
  • Basic understanding of Revit and AutoCAD and their use as a drafting/design tool; proficiency a plus.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building programs, and other similar materials.
  • Ability to receive directions, follow the process, and accept feedback and suggestions from Senior Engineers.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks.
  • A proactive and inquisitive mindset, eager to learn and grow.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with various construction delivery processes, such as Design‑Build, is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum three years’ experience.
  • Engineer‑in‑Training certification preferred.

Typical office environment: working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full‑time and part‑time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short‑term/long‑term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full‑time and part‑time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.

The benefits information listed above may not apply to union positions because benefits for such positions are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreements.
