What You'll Do:
As an Electrical Engineer III, you'll be a key technical contributor on a collaborative, cross-functional engineering team responsible for developing sophisticated handheld instrumentation and embedded systems used by utility professionals every day.
In this role, you will:
- Design and develop embedded electronic systems, analog and digital circuitry, and embedded firmware
- Develop embedded and real-time applications using C, C++, Python, MATLAB, and related technologies
- Design reliable, low-power electronics for portable instruments with wired and wireless connectivity
- Collaborate with firmware, software, mechanical, manufacturing, supplier quality, repair, and product management teams throughout the product lifecycle
- Lead technical discussions and contribute to hardware architecture, schematic design, PCB layout guidance, board bring-up, and design reviews
- Support PCB designers with layout constraints including grounding, power distribution, signal integrity, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
- Perform electrical analysis, troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and system validation
- Evaluate engineering tradeoffs involving cost, reliability, manufacturability, performance, and schedule
- Develop simulations using MATLAB, Simulink, and PSpice to validate electrical and power system designs
- Support product verification, validation, manufacturing transfer, and ongoing product improvements
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure successful product execution
- Translate customer and field requirements into practical engineering solutions
What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline
- 4–7 years of experience in product development, manufacturing, or research and development
- Strong experience designing embedded electronic systems
- Proficiency with Altium or similar electrical CAD tools
- Experience developing embedded firmware using C and C++
- Strong understanding of analog, digital, power electronics, and embedded systems
- Experience with Git, GitHub, Jira, Visual Studio, or similar development tools
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with any of the following is highly valued:
- ARM, PIC, AVR, or other microcontroller platforms
- Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
- FPGA or RTL development
- Optical sensors, infrared sensing, transducers, or gas detection technologies
- Intrinsically Safe product design
- MATLAB, Simulink, or PSpice
- Oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, and other laboratory instrumentation
- Full product development lifecycle from concept through manufacturing release
- Mentoring junior engineers and supporting technical growth within a team

This position is based at our Houston headquarters and includes office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments, with occasional visits to customer sites and field locations. Travel within the United States is expected up to 20%.
