As an Electrical Engineer, you are responsible for designing, modifying, and troubleshooting electrical or electronic engineering assemblies, layouts, schematics, and drawings to advance the equipment that supports our technology. Using your technical experience and critical thinking skills, you will perform engineering analysis, generate test reports, develop innovative solutions, and create documentation for product releases. You will also coordinate the procurement and assembly of components, identify sources of critical parts, and resolve technical issues to ensure peak performance.

Summary

Applied Materials is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to support the definition and specification of next-generation 300mm wafer‑level substrate processing equipment. This role focuses on early‑stage electrical architecture, safety systems, and tool‑level control concepts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define electrical architecture for 300mm processing equipment
  • Develop:
    • Power distribution concepts
    • Tool interlock and safety systems (SEMI S2 alignment)
    • High‑level I/O and control system definitions
  • Support system‑level design reviews and hazard analyses
  • Interface with mechanical, systems, and vendor teams on subsystem integration
  • Contribute to early specifications and design documentation
Qualifications
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 2-4 years of industry experience (New Graduate Applicants will NOT be considered)
  • Fundamental knowledge of industrial controls (PLC, sensors, interlocks)
  • Familiarity with electrical safety standards (SEMI, NFPA preferred)
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
Preferred
  • Experience with semiconductor equipment or industrial tools
  • Exposure to system‑level architecture definition

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
