Job summary

Shield AI is seeking an entry level Electrical Engineer to help bring X-BAT to first flight. You will own a project tied to avionics development with mentorship from senior engineers and cross-functional leads.

Responsibilities include lifecycle ownership from concept to manufacturing, circuit design for embedded systems, system integration and verification, environmental testing, and automation. Strong fundamentals and teamwork are valued; willingness to pursue security clearance is noted.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
• Willingness to obtain S//SAR security clearance desired.
• Strong electrical design fundamentals and hands-on experience with PCB tooling.

Responsibilities

• Own a design impacting the X-BAT avionics system lifecycle from concept through manufacturing.
• Perform full lifecycle ownership: concept, design, verification, integration, flight test, and manufacturing.
• Design efforts include circuit design for embedded systems (analog/digital/power/EMI/EMC).
• Handle system integration and verification, environmental testing, qualification, and automation.
• Debug and drive root-cause analysis and resolve issues; design for high reliability under radiation, temperature, and vibration.

We are looking for an entry level Electrical Engineer that is ready to help us bring X-BAT to first flight. You will own a project that ties directly to our critical path avionics development while receiving directly mentorship from Senior Electrical Engineers and other cross-functional leads. Our team looks for engineers that value first principles engineering and extreme ownership.

• Own a design that directly impacts the X-BAT system and major flight test milestones. A senior engineer is assigned as a direct mentor to provide technical review and professional feedback.


• Full lifecycle ownership: concept, design, verification, integration, flight test, and manufacturing


• Design efforts include:


• Circuit design for our embedded system. You will design with analog, digital, power conversion, high-speed, FPGA, MCU, EMI/EMC, etc.


• System integration and verification


• Environmental test, qualification, and automation


• Debug, root cause, and drive resolution


• Systems must be designed for high-reliability, radiation, aggressive temperature changes, and high magnitude vibration


• Have a degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent


• Strong technical fundamentals


• Have been part of an engineering team/club


• Experience with electrical design software, Altium, KiCAD, etc.


• Ability to obtain a S//SAR level security clearance desired.
