Job summary

Amrize North America Inc. seeks an Electrical Engineer I to lead electrical maintenance at the Midlothian Cement Plant in Texas.

The role focuses on safe, efficient, compliant maintenance and control system activities to maximize equipment reliability. You will supervise electrical/instrument technicians, implement preventive/predictive maintenance, document schematics, ensure environmental compliance, manage spares, and participate in PLC and process control projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Experience with electrical maintenance and control systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and PPE usage required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise electrical and instrumentation technicians on daily work orders and projects.
  • Perform electrical preventive and predictive maintenance and data collection/analysis.
  • Document electrical schematics and manage spare parts inventory.
  • Ensure system programming meets environmental compliance and maintain site records.
  • Evaluate PLCs and control equipment for plant requirements and implement changes.
  • Provide training and guidance on control systems and participate in modifications for reliability and cost reductions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Electrical Engineer is responsible of all electrical maintenance activities at the plant. Ensure electricalproject work is completed is a safe, efficient and timely manner and in compliance with environmentalrequirements and to work in a cooperative manner to plan, schedule and execute all control system activitiesin the plant in order to maximize equipment utilization and reliability.



WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH


  • Responsible for supervising the electrical and instrumentation technicians in the execution of daily workorders and projects assigned by the maintenance coordinator. The engineer is responsible for assigning the work to their crew, insuring the work is performed both timely and correctly and the work history is recorded in SAP.

  • Electrical preventive and predictive maintenance programs. This includes conducting systematic inspections on all plant electrical equipment, collection of quantitative data, its’ organization and analysis using a variety of traditional as well as technically advanced diagnostic tools. The electrical engineer shall assess the condition of the process and machinery accurately, assess risk and identify the appropriate corrective actions based on technical analysis and risk management.

  • Responsible for the accurate documentation of electrical schematics and stores spare parts inventory.

  • Ensure all system programming meets with proper environmental compliance.

  • Maintain system documentation including but not limited to master equipment files, regulatory compliance files, equipment specifications, and repair history

  • Evaluate computer control equipment and their components to assure they meet the plant requirements.

  • Define, write and implement changes to existing process control programs.

  • Provide control system training and guidance for plant personnel.

  • Troubleshoot control system hardware and software problems.

  • Participates in defining, developing and executing equipment and process modifications to improve reliability, reduce costs and/or improve safety. Provide electrical knowledge and support for plant maintenance and PLC control projects.

  • Will be on-call on a rotational basis.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

  • Other duties as assigned.



WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor's degree
Field of Study Preferred: Electrical Engineering
Required Technical Skills: SAP, AutoCAD, Project and Microsoft Office.



Additional Requirements


  • Working knowledge of PLC programming and process control systems is preferred (CTI, PLC-5 and SLC500).

  • Experience in instrumentation, motors, starters and VFD’s, communication.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protective Equipment (\"PPE\"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
