Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to join project teams delivering world-class designs for power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline, airports, and other facilities. You will work through design and construction, adapting electrical plans to budgets and client needs in a collaborative environment.

The role requires ABET-accredited electrical engineering credentials with experience, plus strong communication, analytical, and CAD skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from ABET-accredited program with 3 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering technology with FE and 3 years of experience (consulting preferred).
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering with 2 years of experience (consulting preferred).
  • Preferred Engineers in Training (EIT) certification.
  • Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and 2D/3D rendering programs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical design from conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Modify and review production drawings for diverse projects including power plants, facilities, and governmental/military facilities.
  • Design electrical components per project manager requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering concepts, codes, and procedures.
  • Research and compile project data for managers.
  • Update CAD drawings to reflect corrections.
  • Prepare information for client presentations and contract administration.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations.
  • Comply with policies and standards.

Job description

Description

The Staff Electrical Engineer will work on project teams to create world class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of projects including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government and military facilities. The Staff Electrical Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting electrical plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.

  • Perform electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects including, but not limited to: power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
  • Design electrical components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
  • Applies strong knowledge of commonly used electrical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry.
  • Research and compile project related data as required by the project managers.
  • Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software.
  • Compiles information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power, process, pipeline, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
  • Performs field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program. and 3 years of electrical engineering experience, consulting preferred required.
  • Or, bachelor's degree in electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. and 3 years of electrical engineering experience, consulting preferred, required.
  • Or, master's degree in electrical engineering and 2 years of electrical engineering experience, consulting preferred, required.
  • Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong computer skills include AutoCAD, MicroStation, 2D and 3D rendering programs and other analysis programs.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Preferred Engineers in Training-EIT certification.
Compensation

$115,000.00-170,000.00 Yearly

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
