Job summary

AlphaGov is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer in Fort Lauderdale, FL to develop electrical systems for high-rise and large-scale commercial projects. You will produce coordinated, construction-ready packages using Revit and AutoCAD, and coordinate with multi-discipline teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of building electrical design experience, advanced Revit/AutoCAD skills, and a track record of delivering accurate documents within deadlines.

Qualifications

• Experience with commercial facilities such as office buildings, condominiums, hotels, airports, industrial properties, or municipal buildings.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for high-rise offices, condominiums, hotels, airports, municipal buildings, industrial facilities, and other complex commercial properties.
• Prepare electrical plans, layouts, details, specifications, and construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Perform electrical load calculations, establish system requirements, select equipment, and develop power distribution and lighting layouts.
• Apply applicable electrical codes, building regulations, and engineering standards throughout the design process.
• Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to identify design conflicts, omissions, and coordination issues.
• Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, structural, and other design professionals to ensure integrated project documentation.
• Review drawings and technical packages for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and constructability.
• Respond to construction-phase questions, assist with technical coordination, and incorporate necessary design revisions.
• Manage assigned design deliverables from initial development through final construction documentation.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to resolve technical challenges, meet project deadlines, and maintain design quality.

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to develop electrical systems for high-rise buildings and large-scale commercial projects. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of building electrical design experience, advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, and the ability to produce coordinated, accurate, and construction-ready design packages.

Relevant commercial building or high-rise electrical design experience is essential. Candidates with residential-only electrical design experience will not qualify.

Requirements

• 5+ years of electrical engineering or building systems design experience
• Advanced proficiency in both Revit and AutoCAD is required
• Demonstrated experience designing electrical systems for high-rise buildings or complex commercial developments
• Experience with commercial facilities such as office buildings, condominiums, hotels, airports, industrial properties, or municipal buildings
• Strong knowledge of building electrical systems, electrical load calculations, applicable codes, and engineering design standards
• Ability to interpret and coordinate architectural, structural, electrical, and other MEP construction drawings
• Experience preparing detailed electrical designs and construction documentation
• Strong communication, coordination, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple design assignments while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working for an MEP consulting firm, particularly in South Florida
