Overview
WSP is seeking an Electrical Engineer for our Meridian, ID office, with a secondary location open at Seattle, WA. The role involves providing technical assistance and guidance for due diligence, remediation, permitting, design, and construction of utility, industrial, and commercial projects. The Engineer will support the Property & Buildings Team and help solve client challenges through design and construction support.
Responsibilities
- Collect, compile, and analyze data on substation components and procurement packages.
- Review third‑party design documents, procurement lists, and project plans.
- Perform professional electrical engineering work for single line, three‑line, wiring diagrams, substation layout, bus arrangement, grounding grids, and lightning protection.
- Incorporate future‑ready techniques, concept development, and equipment sizing with AC/DC panel design and conduit/trenching strategies.
- Support senior engineers with research and recommendations for fundamental components, field applications, and operations.
- Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on design, testing, maintenance, and construction procedures.
- Develop electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, feeder sizing, voltage drop, grounding, lighting circuits, facilities, and power distribution.
- Prepare data visualizations, tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, and illustrations.
- Maintain quality control standards for accurate measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.
- Work individually or in cross‑functional teams to execute project work, calculate costs and quantities, and ensure compliance with specifications and permits.
- Assist with scoping small to medium projects.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations explaining research and findings to improve design and address engineering issues.
- Conduct engineering studies and surveys for design and construction insights.
- Analyze field data and develop action plans for risk mitigation.
- Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
- Collaborate on projects with federal, state, regional, and local improvement authorities.
- Exercise responsible decision‑making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
- 3 to 5 years of post‑education experience in electrical design.
- Engineer in Training certification.
- Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, design/build, permitting, and project work.
- Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
- Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.
- Familiarity with engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, and compliance practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non‑engineering audiences.
- Self‑leadership, attention to detail, results orientation, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, and spreadsheets.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills for testing results and data analysis.
- Track record of workplace safety and compliance with health, safety, and anti‑harassment policies.
- Flexibility to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Engineering.
- Experience in healthcare and/or Science & Technology design projects.

Compensation
Expected Salary: $88,470 - $133,800. Compensation will be based on education, experience, and geographic location. WSP reserves the right to offer additional compensation.
