Amazon Leo is building a low Earth orbit satellite network to deliver fast broadband globally. We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the Inter-Satellite Link Avionics team, focusing on analog sensor conditioning, motor control, embedded digital electronics, and power regulation across spacecraft interfaces.

You will own board design, bring-up, test planning, and system verification, collaborating with multiple spacecraft teams.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years hardware development across consumer electronics, power electronics, robotics, aerospace, or similar.
• Deep knowledge of board-level electrical hardware design, sensors, embedded digital systems, and power regulation.
• Experience with PCB design, bring-up, and debugging of components like SoCs, FPGAs, memories, and sensors.
• Experience with high-reliability electronics and motor/actuator-control electronics.

The Electrical Engineer will be a member of Amazon Leo's Inter-Satellite Link Avionics team, focusing on the design of electrical functions including analog sensor signal conditioning and processing, motor and actuator control, embedded digital electronics, power regulation, and overall monitoring and control across spacecraft interfaces.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will be expected to own a variety of tasks, from board design and component selection to layout review, board bring-up, system test, and root-cause analysis at the subsystem and system levels. You will be responsible for ensuring high-quality and innovative designs while also supporting other Amazon Leo colleagues by reviewing and improving board-level and other electrical designs.

A day in the life

You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. As an Electrical Engineer, your tasks would vary between board design, layout reviews, test plan development, qualification and root cause analysis. This is a cross-functional role requiring constant interaction with multiple HW/SW design teams and end-users.

Basic Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in hardware development across multiple phases of the product life cycle in consumer electronics, power electronics, robotics, aerospace, automotive, communications, or a combination thereof.
• Demonstrated technical depth in board-level electrical hardware design, including areas such as precision analog and sensor electronics, embedded digital systems, high-speed interfaces, motor or actuator control, memory, or power regulation.
• Experience with PCB design, board bring-up, and debugging involving components such as microprocessors, SoCs, FPGAs, memories, power supplies, ADCs, DACs, and sensors.
• Experience with complex board designs involving high-speed interconnects, high-reliability electronics, power regulation, or motor and actuator-control electronics.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB-layout ECAD tools.
• Hands-on experience performing bench design-verification testing and debug using oscilloscopes and other common electrical laboratory equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• M.S. or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Broad hardware-development experience spanning multiple electrical engineering disciplines.
• Experience designing precision analog circuits involving ADCs, DACs, low-noise amplifiers, transimpedance amplifiers, sensors, or filters.
• Experience with motor drivers, current sensing, feedback circuits, or actuator-control electronics.
• Experience with embedded processors, SoCs, FPGAs, or memories such as DDR, NOR flash, or FRAM.
• Experience with high-speed circuit design, transmission lines, controlled-impedance routing, signal integrity, or power integrity.
• Experience designing or debugging board-level power supplies, including buck converters and LDOs.
• Experience using circuit simulation and analysis tools such as LTspice or MATLAB.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
