Job summary

ExxonMobil is seeking a senior Electrical Engineer for our Houston campus. You will provide technical leadership to Upstream, Downstream, and Low Carbon Solutions teams, lead projects, and mentor engineers across disciplines.

You will perform power systems studies, participate in maintenance and reliability initiatives, and ensure compliance with industry standards such as NEC, API 14F, and NFPA 70E. Expect broad collaboration and travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international industry codes and standards.
  • Familiar with electrical equipment sizing and specification.
  • Mentor to early career engineers.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical power generation equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Protective relay setting, testing and coordination.
  • Power systems studies and modeling (SKM tool).
  • Apply regulations and standards (30CFR250, NEC, API 14F).
  • NETA MTS for electrical maintenance and inspection.
  • Apply NFPA 70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
  • Assess equipment and circuits in hazardous locations.
  • Troubleshoot electrical equipment and distribution up to 66kV.

What Role You Will Play on Our Team

Electrical Engineers in the ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering organization have the responsibility to provide technical support to project teams as well as both Upstream and Downstream businesses. They will be tasked with supporting ongoing production and manufacturing operations, providing technical solutions, leading initiatives, advising projects on technical issues, and mentoring less experienced engineers.

Successful candidates must be able to work across disciplines and be proficient in associated engineering disciplines.

  • Electrical
  • Power generation equipment maintenance and troubleshooting

About You
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline with a minimum of 10+ years relevant experience
  • Knowledge and application of domestic and international industry codes and standards
  • Familiar with all aspects of electrical equipment, sizing, and specification
  • Technical mentor to early career engineers
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel to domestic and international locations, flexible and adaptable to various living and working conditions
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders, to manage short deadlines, emergency recovery situations and to cope with extreme remoteness, lack of infrastructure and cultural differences
  • Excellent administrative and organizational competencies
Preferred Qualifications & Experiences
  • Demonstrated minimum work experience of 7 years required in at least one of the following:
    • Power system design, operations, modeling and simulation
    • Operations and maintenance support, i.e. electrical fault finding, troubleshooting, root cause failure analysis (RCFA), work management processes
    • Electrical safety analysis and design
    • Subsea power supply and distribution
  • Experience in oil and gas industry with upstream operations, onshore facility/plant, offshore platform/FPSO or refining/chemical plant background preferred
  • Experience in selection, application and data sheet specification of electrical equipment preferred
  • Back-up/ emergency power systems knowledge preferred
  • Hazardous area experience preferred
