Job summary

United Launch Alliance (ULA) Cape Canaveral is seeking a Electrical Engineer to support and maintain ground electrical and power systems across launch sites. You will assist with design, maintenance, and daily operations of facility electrical, power, and electromechanical systems, coordinating with internal teams and contractors.

The role requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering, CAD tools, and knowledge of codes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • Strong foundation in circuit theory and electrical design principles.
  • Familiarity with NEC/IEEE codes is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and organizational skills.
  • Hands-on attitude with willingness to learn and engage in a fast-paced environment.
  • Internship or co-op experience in an engineering setting is desirable.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, control systems, or embedded systems is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain ground electrical and power systems across ULA launch sites.
  • Support design, maintenance, and operations of facility electrical, power, and electromechanical systems.
  • Coordinate electrical support for launch operations, including scheduling and readiness.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and contractors on electromechanical systems and high-voltage infra.
  • Plan and execute electrical validations, pre-launch checkouts and readiness.
  • Develop and update test procedures and maintenance docs for power systems.
  • Operate and maintain mobile electrical systems and hazardous detection systems.
  • Support development of mission-specific electrical capabilities for launch facilities.

Job Overview & Responsibilities
  • Support and maintain ground electrical and power systems across all ULA launch sites.
  • Support the design, maintenance, and daily operations of facility electrical, power, and electromechanical systems.
  • Coordinate electrical support for launch operations, including scheduling, system readiness, and console support during testing and major events.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and contractors on the design, operation, and upkeep of new and existing electromechanical systems, including high-voltage infrastructure.
  • Plan and execute facility electrical validations, pre-launch checkouts, and ensure operational readiness.
  • Develop and update test procedures and maintenance documentation for primary and backup power systems (12kV, 480VAC, 120VAC, 24V control, etc.).
  • Operate and maintain mobile electrical systems and hazardous commodity detection and monitoring systems.
  • Support development of mission-specific electrical capabilities for launch facilities.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong foundation in circuit theory, electrical design principles, and CAD software (AutoCAD, EPLAN, etc.).
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE) is a plus.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and take initiative in a hands‑on environment.
  • Internship or co‑op experience in an engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, control systems, or embedded systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic working knowledge of:
    • Circuit theory.
    • Electrical design principles.
    • AC/DC voltage systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams, including customers and subcontractors.
  • Ability to support field operations and maintenance activities in launch pad and processing environments, including certification or willingness to obtain certification for:
    • Working at heights.
    • Confined space entry.
    • Areas with hazardous rocket propellants and high-pressure gases.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to other ULA launch facilities as needed.
