Job description

Introduction to the job

As an electrical engineer at ASML in Wilton, you will help develop the technologies that make advanced lithography systems possible. You will specify, design, develop, realize, integrate and test electrical and electro-mechanical modules and tools in close collaboration with cross-functional engineering partners, suppliers and stakeholders.

This role supports both new product introductions and existing product support, including component engineering, end-of-life solutions and customer-facing escalations. Scope and accountability increase by job grade, from executing defined engineering work to leading complex technical scope, driving roadmap direction and steering cross-functional technical delivery.

Role and responsibilities

In this role, you will deliver electrical engineering solutions that meet system specifications, cost targets, quality expectations and project schedules. Depending on job grade, you may execute defined work packages, own complex module-level scope, guide other engineers or lead technical direction across modules and platforms.

  • Identify, analyze, document and manage requirements with traceability, including verification criteria to confirm deliverables meet intent.
  • Conduct research, feasibility studies and technical analysis; translate findings into recommendations, tradeoffs and decision inputs.
  • Develop electrical engineering concepts and solutions that meet functionality, performance, cost, compliance and schedule needs.
  • Define and communicate specifications, high-level designs and interface requirements to support quality execution and reviews.
  • Support system or product integration by coordinating dependencies, applying configuration management and resolving technical issues.
  • Define and execute validation and test approaches, improve methods and procedures, and ensure qualification evidence supports release readiness.
  • Plan work, estimate effort, manage risks and dependencies, maintain documentation, and follow environmental, health and safety requirements.

Scope highlight

JG07

Leads complex technical design work within a discipline or owns a module-level area requiring contributions from multiple engineers. Works autonomously on complex tasks, balances quality with timely delivery and interfaces with suppliers or customers as part of a broader team.

JG08

Takes the lead in developing complex parts of modules with full technical ownership. Considers industrialization and cross-team impacts, collaborates across multiple teams and may guide a small group of peers through technical execution.

JG09

Owns multiple complex designs end-to-end, with a broader view of system impacts and cross-functional dependencies. Drives solutions through significant technical uncertainty and oversees functional relationships across domains.

Education and experience

To help ASML solve complex engineering challenges, candidates should bring a technical background in a relevant electrical, electro-mechanical or related engineering field. The minimum experience expectation increases by job grade.

  • JG07: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 2+ years of relevant experience; master’s degree preferred.
  • JG08: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 5+ years of relevant experience; master’s degree or PhD preferred.
  • JG09: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 8+ years of relevant experience; master’s degree or PhD preferred.
Skills

Working at the cutting edge of technology, you will face new challenges and solve complex problems through collaboration. To thrive in this role, you should be able to work in a dynamic engineering environment, communicate clearly and take ownership for technical outcomes.

  • Ability to manage requirements, interfaces and technical specifications with traceability.
  • Strong electrical engineering design, analysis, troubleshooting and technical tradeoff skills.
  • Experience supporting integration, verification and validation of complex modules or systems.
  • Ability to plan work, manage risks and dependencies, and deliver commitments with quality.
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
