E-Frontiers is seeking an Electrical Engineer (Substation Design / High Voltage) to lead HV transmission and distribution projects from concept to client approval. About the Role - Electric Engineer

We are looking for Electrical Engineers to add to our growing Engineering team and become the driving force behind our High Voltage projects. You’ll be part of the design team for a range of multi-disciplinary Transmission & Distribution projects both domestically and internationally. You can expect variety and travel, visiting client sites to independently discuss, define and verify client requirements and reflecting the output in high quality proposals and reports.

  • Lead the electrical engineering design for assigned high-voltage (HV) transmission and distribution projects from concept through detailed design and client approval.
  • Coordinate closely with civil designers to ensure civil layouts meet electrical equipment and installation requirements.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact (SPOC) for utility providers, clients, and owner's engineers, managing design reviews, technical queries, and stakeholder communication.
  • Manage design deliverables, including design logs, drawing packages, and submittals to utility providers and client representatives.
  • Develop and review HV engineering documentation, including physical layouts, single-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, electrical system designs, and equipment specifications.
  • Prepare and review procurement specifications for major primary plant equipment, including power transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, neutral earthing resistors (NERs), and associated HV equipment.
  • Review supplier drawings, technical documentation, and vendor submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Perform and review HV system studies, including protection coordination, load flow, fault level, and voltage regulation analyses.
  • Attend client, utility, and multidisciplinary design meetings while providing technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support project delivery through technical problem-solving, design coordination, and occasional domestic and international travel as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience designing HV transmission, distribution, or substation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of primary plant equipment, including HV transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, CTs, VTs, NERs, and associated substation equipment.
  • Experience producing physical HV layouts, single-line diagrams, protection and control schemes, and electrical design documentation.
  • Proficiency in HV power system studies, including protection coordination, load flow, fault level, and voltage regulation.
  • Experience reviewing supplier documentation, vendor drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with utility standards, protection philosophies, and multidisciplinary design coordination.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with experience working directly with utilities, clients, contractors, and owner's engineers.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as project requirements dictate.
  • Expertise in high-voltage electrical design, substation engineering, and power system analysis.
  • Strong understanding of utility standards, electrical codes, and technical compliance requirements.
  • Excellent project coordination and document management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality, accuracy, and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to engineering challenges.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills in client-facing environments.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across engineering disciplines and project teams.
